I personally liked Terry Fair...I remember he had a couple of long TD returns in '96...The one against Arkansas was one of the best I can remember...I have an "old school" friend who says Bobby Majors, hands down...I can't remember that far back..lol...Since we suck at punt returns this year, figured I would try to dredge up memories of better times....:)

Your "old school" friend is pretty accurate. Bobby Majors was a 3 tool returner -- quick, fast, and tough. He was a threat to score on every punt and didn't understand the concept of a fair catch. Although he did more kickoff work than punts, Willie Gault was another memorable return threat.

Clicked to say Bobby Majors and see someone has beaten me to it. :loco: Never seen anyone who could read blocks quite so well.

Bobby Majors is my vote with Dale Carter a close second.

Who was the last vol to score on a kickoff?

I really like the pitch back to the other guy returns we did this year.

Tennessee returns punts??? I thought we just lined someone back there to drop it and fall on it / turn it over...

Majors was the best... I have game against Penn St when he ran wild. awesome punt returner. looked slow moving but was getting lots of yards...

I remember those kick-off returns he had against Penn St. Don't think he got in the end zone but definitely flipped the field.

Bobby is my first choice.

In my lifetime the only 3 that I remember being a threat to take it to the house was Dale Carter, Terry Fair and Nilo.

I think UT would have been alright this year if Gerald Jones had been healthy at the start and been given the job...IMO He is probably the best option on this roster..I still don't understand why he wasn't given a real opportunity but I'm sure there was/is a good reason...
