All these shots yall are taking at t.u. is fine with me, but dont let some hippy in Austin skew your entire perception of the state.

When I stop and look at it, We share some pretty close ties to Texas. We gave them Davy Crockett, they gave us General Neyland. It seems one can't exist without the other...

We were here first though. That says enough. GO VOLS!

WOW... a lot of hate...I live in West Texas and we love it. Don't get me wrong, I love Tennessee (I was back last weekend for the opening of turkey season), but Texas isn't that bad (other than the traffic in DFW area)...and if you're in the oil & gas business, West Texas is the best place in the country...I do get pleasure from telling them that we are the real UT tho...

all that wind in west texas, better jump o n T Boone Pickens wind mills

Ok, I have to live with this on a daily basis. My husband is a Texas grad. We are constantly fighting over the real UT and the proper shade of orange. We have discussed many times where the great state of Texas would be now w/o Davy Crockett, etc. I always get the "republic" crap about Texas. March 2 is Texas Independance Day. And if you move to Texas, yes, according to the people who live there everything is bigger and better in Texas. Except.......

Their football stadium. My husband took me to a game and I saw the stadium and I said, "this is it?" "How quaint."

Then I took him to Neyland, a REAL stadium and said, "Welcome to Tennessee-we play football here."

I now get constant updates on Darryl Royal stadium and the upgrades to add more seats.

I have had to endure terrible football seasons for the past few years. It's getting old. Constant bickering over the Big12 and the SEC. I want Tennessee to win again BIG. I need 'cha Kiff!

By the way, whoever said West Texas was nice. That was a joke, wasn't it?

You will never win the battle of who is UT. Just ask those TU fans which school is older.

I thought it was bad enough when the whole UT/T came about but they copied our running through the T as well. Its a terrible rendition and makes me so mad.

If I move out of austin I will move out of the state.

FWIW I get into an online battle every week with my texas friend and we battle who is the real UT. Here are the facts you wanted. Tennessee is the real UT. Texas stole it

1. Tennessee was founded in 1794
2. Texas founded in 1876
3. Tennesse first football game was in 1891
4. Texas first football game was in 1893
5. according to UT they have won 6 national championships but only 2 are recorded so go figure.
6. Texas has won 4 National championships

So case in point is Tennessee was founded 82 years before Texas opened it's doors and Tennessee played it's first football game 2 years before Texas did. Tennessee is the real UT so the next time Mack Brown wears a T on his hat call the cops because he stole it lol

I don't get the whole national championship count thing. I have seen that we have won3 and have read we have won 6. It makes no sense.

Well the system was jacked up and sometimes there was not 1 #1 NC team. That is why after 100 years they decided to get the BCS just shows we have idiots in charge of football. When you go to their stadium they have NC and the years of 1938, 1940, 1950, 1951, 1967 @ 1998. Plus back then if you went undefeated or had maybe one loss or so you were granted NC even before the bowl game. Here is something to think about also. In 84 or 85 when we played Miami in the Orange Bowl they were playing for the NC but we wiped their butt's so why were they playing for it and us not. System was wacked for many years.
