I don't know why people are so insecure about this and have to declare who was better, both did a good job and exceeded their preseason projected FPI wins. This was a weird year, more teams in the East overperformed than the West.

Does strength of schedule come into this?

UT played ACC champion, SCAR played at best the 4th place team in the ACC.

Tennessee played SEC west and overall champion and also 2nd place team from the SEC west. SCAR played the 5th and 6th place SEC west teams
