Assuming that none of the coaches were rich enough to draw $75, 000 or so out of their bank account, who gave the money?

Are one or two of our boosters going to be embarrassed when the facts are all in?

Someone explain to me why our assistants would be tied this closely to the money.

It's obvious the bag man exists for a reason. You have one contact with the details of what the player is requesting and the football coaches never deal with that side of the shadiness.

This is some Bush league crap we were pulling.

I wish they would do some forensic accounting and run these guys to ground.....probably too big an anthill to kick.

It would be nice to give the IRS the names of the proven cash recipients and their families and let the Feds see how the windfall income was reported. Same thing at the state level if the home state has an income tax.

If we are going to blow it all up and get squeaky clean, let's be thorough.

As screwed up as the federal government is nowadays?

75k? They spill that loading pennies to send to banks.

The IRS is going to pay investigators thousands then lawyers thousands to chase down and prosecute 75k? With a budget as big and complex as UT you could write off 75k for teaching a band member to fart the fight song and never get audited.

The fact that ANY adult, whether it be a coach, a booster, whatever, cares that much about college football to give $75,000 to a kid to play is just sad.
It depends.
If you have a billion or so, you can find 75k under the couch cushions.

I hate when people say things like this. Like, they don’t have millions because of stupid spending. I don’t give a damn if it’s Alvin Kamara that you gave $75,000 to....how does it benefit you? What is the ROI of that? Does he pay you back when he’s pro? I just don’t get the point..

Seriously suggest you Google "Pete Carroll Reggie Bush drug money" or "Fab 5 michigan money laundering" to open your eyes.

College sports are more easily funded by dirty money than clean money so, like politics, you find yourself...... perhaps not in bed with, but certainly playing footsie with...... some pretty disgusting humans.

If a college is funding athletes with easily traceable money from boosters, they're not ready for Prime Time. I hate to break it to you but cleanliness is next to Godliness, it is NOT next to National Championships.

Hehehehehe...... I watched Mahomes and Rodgers launch, I dunno..... $5k, $7k, I dunno what the fine is...... footballs into the stands this past weekend.

Zeros get...... inconsequential....... for some people. It's a spur of the moment thing like I give a $5 to a guy on the corner, Patrick tosses $5k into the stands.

$75k isn't a lot of money in some circles. Many circles, actually.

$5000 or $7000 for an on “stage” antic is nothing. I understand that. Especially when it’s maybe what, 5% or less of what you made playing in the game that day? But what does a booster (or whoever) get for dropping $75,000 off in a paper bag to a player or recruit? I don’t care if it was for Josh Dobbs.....what’s the thrill? What is the point? Are they betting on the Vols on Saturdays? Do they really care if Tennessee (or whoever) wins that badly? I just don’t understand that kind of passion. Not to mention, it’s not a sure thing. You could give them the money and they could end up being a bust, get hurt, transfer, etc...

I know it happens, but it’s still dumb.
