It was an absolute dumpster fire in the offseason. Anyone who was supposed to know anything said we were 7-5 at best. It’s possible that Hypel is getting the most he can out of these kids. Any other Tennessee coach I’ve seen in the last 50 years would be lucky to win 5 games with this situation.

This is the cycle.
Fans have low expectations because of various factors-> Heupel figures out a way to get the most out of what he has-> casual fans blow their expectations WAY out of the water-> we don't play perfect -> casual fans: "I am so disappointed with the way this team played. We would have won every game if the team did (such and such)-> we still finish with a respectable record that is better than anyone expected -> casual fans "FIRE EVERYBODY". Repeat
