Great postDuring the rampage of realignment at that time, WVU was like typhoid Mary and it was really not fair.
At that time, tv market footprint was EVERYTHING and getting in new states allowed the conference networks to be put on basic cable plans in that state. West Virginia did not offer a huge population and adding them to a major conference was not worth the squeeze. It would not have made the pie much larger and the slices of the slightly larger pie would have been made actually smaller.
Now, the SEC is stuck with a Missouri program who is clearly not ready for primetime and likely never be. Worse? If they EVER did, they would flee to the Big10 anyway as they think the rest of the conference is beneath them. Their on campus political meltdown made them toxic.
Knowing now it would not cost the rest of the conference a dime, I would trade Missouri and West Virginia with the Big12 even up.
My wish is the schools in the northeast would get their damn acts together and reform the old BigEast without the snottiest Catholic schools who view football as gladiator games beneath their dignity.
Maryland, Syracuse, Connecticut, West Virginia, Boston College, Pitt, Marshall, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Louisville would all be better served in a conference THEY control rather than as pawns for the ACC or Big10. Hell! Penn State would be a better fit.
I also believe the TV networks would like a stable conference in the largest markets in the the US to counterbalance BIG10 and SEC bullying them for bad TV deals.
Also, if Notre Dame were forced into a conference by NCAA post season requirements, they would be in this northeastern conference in a heartbeat (Big Fish/Little Pond) as they honestly think they would run the organization.
There's not a school in the SEC that have less respect for than Ole Miss.Or Ole Miss

Their alumni, boosters, and fans honestly believe they are a southern Ivy and all they are the official college of racist, suburban frat boys.
They're not even the top school in their state, and I'm not sure they are the best school in the northern half of that miserable third world state.
Just say it….the Georgia Bullpuppies! I despise them but not as much as I do KY and Vandy.I won't make everyone mad by saying my #1 choice outloud. I always pull for the SEC teams because I want SEC teams to dominate the sport. I think it is good for us but I'm in the minority.
