So much has been said about pretty much everything wrong right now (lack of discipline, losing mentality/culture, porous O-line, etc, etc...), but the thing that sticks out to me is we don't have any player-leaders. Who are the leaders of this team? The guys you can count on to make a big play, emotionally fire everyone up, carry the team on his back?

Who has the potential for that?

I thought Jennings was gonna be one of those guys. But for whatever reason, it hasn't played out that way.

I didn't think we were gonna be very good this year because I don't think you can win much in the SEC without being strong in the trenches. And we just aren't.
But I thought that with a new coaching staff we would see some players emerge as leaders and it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen this year.

Gotta be a boss to be a team leader...the players will have to answer that question themselves...
The team has to play to win each game realizing the talent isn't there. For a lot of student athletes its hard to rise to that postion when the coaches are still looking for solutions themselves because of the lack of talent. You can't be a leader unless you know what the coaches want. Just from a fans observation and because I don't know what the teams offensive and defensive plan is game to game I'd say every player must work on his own set of responsibilities right now before critiquing others.

As of right now, this team has no leader.
I would expect someone to raise up and become said leader.

Most of the time leaders have to make plays. Your not going to listen to guys that are more bark than bite. It has to be a guy that always does it right. Steps up in key moments. Etc.

It's one thing to to want to be a leader but another all together to show your good enough to be one.

How many guys have made a big play in critical moments? JJ should be one but beyond that it's missing.

Hopefully this will be a serious thread. There are plenty of threads to muck up for the ignorant.

JJ should be on offense but he hasn’t gotten back up to speed yet or so it seems.

Tuttle should be. He is playing for the big leagues so it should matter to him and JJ.

Pruitt said he was at the moment. Guess it's not cool to step up and hold your teammates accountable for their sorry play anymore. Doesn't seem to happen around here.

Think there are a bunch of delicate flowers on this team that refuse to be led, Jonesy done recruited us a team full of stereotypical millennials. Probably are a few leaders in waiting though Banks, Jennings, Smith just need to recruit kids capable of taking criticism and learning

We have no leaders! We have a few that would be great leaders but don’t have the goods to stand up and set their teammates to a higher standard

There was an interview with Al Wilson on the Swain show during the coach hire where he spoke about the kids and young men in the locker room. It made think about the emotions that they must be going through. They gave there future to a university that has made a 180 on them and now are trying to make the best of a terrible situation. Now these coaches are having to deal with players they didn’t recruit and are being judged on those kids performance. This is a no win situation for all involved. It must be really hard to lead a team that you are just trying to survive on.... There is no possible way that anyone can feel confident enough to lead.

Wow. Just when I thought it could get any worse you go and post something like this? And totally redeem yourself! Lol. But seriously man this is one of he most level headed accurate statements I’ve seen so far. I would like your post 1000x if I could.
