Who’s watching the Savannah Bananas at Neyland Stadium?

I'm guessing you have a personal connection to a player or the organization. You are real defensive of a team that is for show, in their words not mine.
Oh, and before bashing it, go look into the Sandlot Revival led by their player Robert Anthony Cruz. Or find the video of him praying for everyone attending before the game. I'd think those would be things you would support.

The person talking about numbers referred to their numbers when they were in the Summer Ball league. The person who called them talentless was referring to the fact that someone suggested they were equal to MLB players which very few of them played D1. I'm not anti-Bananas. It is just not my thing and I believe most hard-core baseball fans feel the same. You just attacked several people very hard that are on here all the time for their opinions. Normally that is a parent or friend of a player when it comes to UT. I've learned to realize that everyone on here has their own opinions about so many things and people. I did not intend to defend or offend anyone. It's just a kid's event that is meant for fun. Not for everyone but great for the kids.

I didn't see anyone compare them to MLB players. They definitely aren't that, although one former player is now in MLB. But I also don't think "talentless" players could catch a fly ball while doing a back flip. Several people called them out for that, and the numbers comment. Even if the numbers comment was about summer ball, it's kind of an absurd comment when in the past month they have sold out two of the largest stadiums in college football. I'm as big of a baseball fan as anyone. I can also distinguish between "real" baseball and this. It may be a "kid's event" but I saw plenty of adults enjoying it and having fun as well. I just get irritated with all the negativity on here. It's not just this post about the Bananas. I see it on everything. I've seen numerous post bashing Coach Elander and the baseball team this year. As the parent of a player, I'm sure you've seen it too.

Seriously though, check out the link I posted to Sandlot Revival. I think you'll like it.

I saw this post on Reddit …

“Neyland Stadium will go down as my worst Banana Ball experience. That stadium sucks.

I don't think you can make the seats any smaller than that. I had my knees in the back of the guy in front of me and the guy behind me had his knees in mine. I gave up on getting concessions because getting out into the walkway was miserable for everyone.

The audio system was like listening to the teacher from Charlie Brown, you couldn't understand what anyone was saying. I've got a miserable headache.

I think UTK didn't really want to support it with special guests, you had Kamara and the UTK softball team, wah wan. Expected a country star or Peyton, nope. Heck at least Smokey the dog or mascot. They barely played a part of Rocky Top once.

I sat right along the first base line and the players and everyone ignored all the sections around me all night. I've sat in nosebleeds and got more attention from the banana ball team.

I won't be going back to any games at Neyland, that place stinks.”

Neyland does suck. It’s a 90k seat stadium that squeezes in 100k. There’s no UT facility where you can easily get in and out of the ilse, but football is a joke. Metal bleachers and zero room to get around anyone without them standing up and turning sideways. Even then, you’re going to trip over someone. Despite “improvements,” access to concessions and restrooms is still a nightmare.

It's actually more like a 70k stadium, if you are going allow for just a reasonable amount of seat width and walkways. The non- renovated bathrooms and concourses are a literal embarrassment.

...But I wouldn't trade it for any other stadium. The gameday atmosphere and tradition is unlike any other in the nation.

However, I won't be sad when our side actually gets the long-awaited facelifts.

People in northside Chicago and Boston would call Neyland "authentic"

Neyland Stadium's main problems are time:

(1) It was designed by the General when few people were obese
(2) It was built when more people watched the actual game and worried less about going to bathroom (read into that statement what you want)
(3) It was built smack dab in the center of what became an urban college campus.

I would love to see the school lean into the "historic" nature of the stadium.
The screens take away from the game and fans' collective attention to the game and pageantry. There's nothing pageant about a video ad for car insurance.
Get rid of the wifi- not more of it.
More bleachers
More troughs
Cheaper beer
More band music, Less recorded music
Concession stands that face out of the stadium to tailgaters

Tell me you are an old guy who likes tradition without saying it. 🤣
