Yes, i can hardly make it through a bob kessling called game. I find myself slumped over asleep in no time.

i don't have anything against kesling. he's not flashy or anything but he gets the point across. i think it all boils down to people being spoiled by ward too much. there's far worse out there IMO

Kesling is above average? really? The only other radio guy i ever hear is Mike Keith...and he is awesome.

Did anyone else notice he said Fulmers record was 150-151 before the game on the radio.

I've listened to a variety of college broadcasts on Sirius and XM the last few years. There seem to be way more BAD radio announcers out there than there are good. I definitely don't think Kessling is the best, but he is much, much better than many of the others - Miss State, South Carolina come to mind. Munson for UGA was horrendous even before his legendary "hobnailed boot" comment... I'm sure there are many more to mention.

Can we please get rid of the Boob? How he got the job has always amazed me. John Ward was the best and we may never have anyone close to John but we definately can do better then Boob. I never could understand why we did not pursue Mike Keith when we had our chance but now he has a great gig with the Titans but thats who we should have gotten. Who ever is responsible for this hire needs to be fired with Boob as well, the guy seldom tells the scores, he butchers names even on our own team and I can never tell what the downs and distance are and what is the line of scrimmage. With John he told you everything and you could tell where we were at all times.. The vols are moving left to right from the south endzone, the ball is on the 35 1st and 10, Manning drops back to pass, being pressured, avoids the sack, steps up into the pocket and lets it fly, Joey Kent catches it in stride 45 40 3 5 30 25 20 15 10 5 4 3 2 1 TOUCHDOWN BIG ORANGE!!

The only thing I've really heard was that Bob has stated he doesn't want to do Vol Calls if the new coach wants it to be an actual call in show.

Sounds like a good enough reason to get someone else in there. We all knew that whoever followed Ward was just going to be a seat warmer anyway.

Really? Is this a legit possibility? I have not paid attention as much to the fringe moves due to Fulmer being replaced. I read this thread early when it started but did not give much to the thought of it really happening. I would not think that a radio person and a head coach would be connected like this.

That being said, I can take or leave Kessling. Sometimes I like listening to him but not always. I think I actually like Bert B with him during basketball and that makes him better.

You actually like Bert with Bob on basketball? Holy Christ.....Bert drags it down to where I can hardly listen to any basketball broadcasts because of him. I work in radio and do games so I'm not completely clueless when it comes to this. Bert walks all over Bob and interrupts him constantly. And his incessant chants of MONEY and all his other Bertisms just makes me shake my head.

If I were doing play-by-play and my color man walked all over me every game like Bert does to Bob I'd probably drop him right on press row.

Keith left the Vol network and started working with the then TN Oilers in 1996. John Ward retired after the 1998 season. Are you suggesting Ward should have been fired to make room for Keith?

...I didn't think so.
