I do believe without a doubt that Florida has been the dominant team over the past 15 seasons. But in the last 10 I would say Florida, Tennessee and LSU are about equal. And I am excited about getting back to success like we had in the early 90's and I think our domination of the Gators in 3 of our last 4 games is a great start.:birgits_giggle:

No, more like the chapter that began when the conference moved to divisions and a championship game. Seems like a reasonable starting point to talk about the success of the various teams "recently."

As for the footnote comment, I cannot argue that Florida was a force at all prior to about 1982 or so. And of course no championships prior to 1993. Then again, if you want to go way back so as to include Tennessee in greater proportion then I'd point out that Princeton won the national championship in 1873, Cornell won it in 1915, and Cal won it in 1923.

In Florida everything that happen in the SEC prior to 1990 is just BS (before Spurrier) and doesn't mean a thing.

Does anybody know how the different leaders have done against ranked and unranked opponents?

I know that TN has steadily declined in wins against ranked opponents over the last decade, but I don't know how UF, LSU, & UGA have put their records together. I'd like to know SOS as well.

Of course, I'm assuming that the question was about who the best SEC team was nationally, not best within the conference. With rankings & bowl invites being a joke half the time, I think you've got to qualify titles & national rankings (ours included).

If it's within the conference, it's easier- who went to the SECCG most, and, each year, how often did they get to miss the top team(s) from the other half of the conference on their way to the game.......

Other than their national title last year, they haven't done that much. Georgia is the only team that has been consistently good. Florida was not a good team from '02 to '04 because of Zook, and Spurriers last years were some of his less impressive seasons. LSU has been fairly consistent as well in the past 10 years.
