.......would have helped us the most this year and next year?
Alex Poythress
Austin Nichols
Shannon Hale

(Gotta keep them home)

All of those players would be getting bench minutes on this team.

I would have loved to have Nichols as a project.

Nichols did stay home, technically.

But none of those three would've been the difference between advancing past tonight and going home. Not this year.

Give me Poythress could use some one as versitale as him.

I completely agree. I think he would have flourished under CCM. He was both physically and mentally weak and not particularly well-conditioned last year - none of which would have been allowed to happen under CCM (and still see minutes). I'm a Kentucky fan and I like (for the most part) Cal, but Poythress would have been much better off coming to UT.

His size and athleticism may have been the difference in today's game. Maymon gives as much effort as anybody, but his knee troubles have sapped almost all his explosiveness. Poythress may have been able to provide significantly more effective D than Maymon.

What the heck is a "foward"? Almost as bad as folks who say "chwenty" instead of "twenty"

Probably not in the majority, but Nichols would thrive offensively next to Stokes. He struggled defensively, but he is the polar opposite of Maymon and could have gotten 15 minutes a game. Nichols and Stokes together would have made me giddy.

But that's not where you look for an impact miss. Mathieu? Hickey? Chris Jones? They would have really helped.

You can't fix mentally weak IMO. 95% of the time Poythress looks like an overhyped product of playing weak HS competition.

I think the right coach and staff can help facilitate a player's mental growth. Based on all I've seen in following UT and UK, I think UT and CCM would have been a much better fit in that regard than UK and Cal.

I do agree that he was a bit over-hyped, but most 5* freshmen are. Only the absolute best of the best meet the lofty standards that come with that fifth star. I'm not suggesting that he would have walked in and lit it up, but that he would be in a much better situation in regards to his development as a player.

The jumpshot of Hale would've been nice with Stokes, he can stretch it out to 20 feet. Would've given Jarnell a ton of room to work, and provide another option for him when he drove.
