Some one that will lay it on the line and do everything they can to win. There isn't one type of football player that is better than another... Heart and will is what you want then put them in the position to be successful.

I prefer a good pocket passer. A combo backfield of speed and a power third down back are a neccessity and speed is useless at WR with subpar posession skills.

I prefer drop-back passers, power running backs, possesion recievers in the flats and a speedy guy in the slot.

Pocket - very few good scrambling QB, QB made to throw not run.

Power Back - North and South runner.

Posession - Game of inches.

I am not a purist on the issue. I prefer a pass first QB that is not defensless in the pocket. I think this type of athlete can demoralize great defenses. You can only chase a guy around for so long without getting winded and pissed.

The problem with most athletic guys that can run is that they never learn to make their progressions. In other words it is hard to find this type of QB.

I don't like a sitting duck.

I prefer a balanced passer. So he CAN run if necessary, but his real strength is passing the ball downfield. Everything else = speed.

i dont care if the qb can run or not, as long as he can throw. that being said there are plenty of pocket passers that flat out suck. i guess it depends on the offense and in the end I just want a good player. I'd take a guy with speed over a bad pocket passer, but I'd take a good pocket passer over a guy with speed.

again for rbs and wrs it is strictly based on the offense. in our offense you would probably want one of each. 1 speed and 1 power back for the two back system. and one speed and 1 possession wr so that you have the deep threat and the person who can turn no gainers into solid yardage.

however in the spread you want all speed, and in a run heavy system power backs and posseion wrs are key. for example the teams that come to my mind would be florida=spread and the ny giants=run heavy.

pocket qb,
scramblers don't work as well as pocket (MOST of the time.. a few exceptions but i'll have to play the odds)

speed back
can't tackle em if you can't catch em

possession wr
speed does no good if you can't hold onto the ball

Let's see. Tee Martin's legs came in pretty handy. So QB makes the play.

I know I'm going to create an uproar when I defame a god, but I just don't understand the love for Tee Martin. He had more heart than anyone since Daryl Dickey, but I just don't remember him ever being so good that we're trying to find "the next Tee Martin." I never thought his skills (running or throwing) were as good as Shuler's or Robinson's. And as much as I can't stand Clausen or Ainge, I still think I'd prefer both of them over Martin. Therefore, I'd say that since 1990, I'd prob put him down as my last pick after all the other established QBs (Kelly, Shuler, Manning, Martin, Clausen, and Ainge). Perhaps it all comes down to my preference for pocket passers. Criticize me if you must, but please keep it PG.

...devoted fans can see things the exact opposite? I feel Tee probably did not get the credit he deserved as a QB. There is no doubt in my mind his value on the 99 NC team was tremendous...and there were occasions when he just out "athleted" the opposition and made plays when I thought the play and Tee were dead.

If I had to have a QB to play for my life it wouldbe Manning of course, but this season especially I would love to have Tee behind center over the others mentioned sans Manning.

I recently watched the championship game and you could just see Tee taking control in the huddle and on the field and the rest of the fellas following his lead.

I loved Kelly too, just not the athlete Tee was.

GO VOLS

I prefer a pocket quarterback that can be counted on to buy himself a few extra seconds when protection breaks down. But passes first, always looks to pass.

I love power backs. Four or five yards and a cloud of dusts wins football games.

I like different receivers. I like one very speedy homerun hitter, one big prototypical wide receiver, and a tough as nails possession guy.

I prefer a dual threat QB. When the defense has to worry about the QB passing and running it puts another demension to the game. I really like a Micheal Vick type QB. He could hurt you all the way around when he was on his game.

They all have their place in each team's scheme. As far as the QB goes I would like a Matt Ryan prototype to commit to Tennessee...who wouldn't though
