So I've been reading a lot on here about Butch not getting us to the SEC Championship game and blah blah blah....would you prefer to go play Alabama again and get embarrassed on National TV then end up in the Citrus or most likely go to a major bowl like the Sugar and get some major TV exposure?

Please don't give me the BS of we may have upset Bama, because we all know that is not going to happen.

I prefer going to 'nawlins and playing someone like Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and finally getting into a major bowl game.

Winning the East this year doesn't mean squat. The entire division is garbage and we have the distinct pleasure of getting the best team in the country on our schedule every year. We beat Florida and Georgia which was a major goal but had 1 hiccup in SC. It's been a long stressful season but each season under Jones our record has improved. Now it's time to take the next step and win a major bowl

What difference does it make? Many said before the season started that ending the streak against Florida would be enough for them. Granted, that usually means a trip to Atlanta. So what was the question again?

I'll take the Sugar Bowl gladly. I'll catch some flack for this but I'm not going to be upset with 9-3 and the possibility of a 10 win season. I wanted to go to Atlanta as much everybody else did but I'm not going to be mad at potentially playing in the Sugar Bowl/a ten win season.

You play to win championships. Period.

Not getting their during an incredible weak east means CBJ is not likely to ever get us there. I'm not much for consolation prizes.

Obviously, former players say they play to win titles. Clearly, Butch disagrees with them.

And that is not meant to be a shot at Butch or Shoop, but since I don't think O'Brien, KMac, Shy, or JRM will be playing in a bowl game, I think our defense is going to have a tough time with anybody that we get matched up with in a NYD bowl.

I already said making the Sugar Bowl would make up for the USCjr loss and missing Atlanta.

Playing in a joke bowl would not. Getting a bowl is not that big of a deal.

Vandy, win or lose will get a bowl this year...that says it all.

After giving up 400 yards rushing in back to back weeks to Kentucky and Missouri, only a masochist would want to go to Atlanta to take on Alabama. With this defense, we would get ANNIHILATED.

I'd rather see Florida get embarrassed by Alabama on national TV and head to the Sugar Bowl to take on a Big 12 team that doesn't play any defense like us. And if we beat Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, there's a good chance we finish the year ranked in the top 10.

I prefer beating Vandy and then hopefully going to the Sugar bowl. The way I see it, we are better off this year not playing bama for the championship and getting more players hurt. We need all the players available for whatever bowl we go to. Besides.....I don't see the gators beating bama either.

It really doesn't matter at this point. We no longer have a shot at going to ATL. We do have a shot at the Sugar Bowl and that's what we should be focused on, after this weekend that is. What if's are just speculation. I "prefer" the best possible game/situation that we are in the running for.

Maybe true, but NOT winning the East this year means ALOT.

No it doesn't, it will never matter again until we actually have a legit shot at winning the SEC, Basically everyone in the east was playing for a shot to get it's brains beat out by Alabama. I'd rather not sit through that embarrassment again. Florida can brag about winning the east but that team will always be looked at by former Gators as the team that let the streak end.

When you beat UGA and Florida in the same season you should make the championship game 10 out of 10 times. Once again we can't even win the piss poor East. If not now when? Next year without Dobbs, Sutton, Maybin, Kamara, Barnett?

You act like we have beat vandy already? Also guess you never heard about the sugarbowl vs Miami we didn't have a chance and went on to blow them out

Yes we will beat Vandy and I remember very well the Sugar Bow vs Miami. Lets just say the odds are very low

I know I would like some revenge on Oklahoma from our losses in last two years.

I unfortunately agree about playing Bama- when someone named D. Crockett beats the heck out of of the VOLS rush defense..it is bad...

i'm disappointed that we didn't win the East, but we did beat Florida and Georgia! For me beating Florida made the season! Let's go beat Vandy, have a month to get healthy, then go to the Sugar Bowl and kick some as$!

GBO!!!

I also believe if you told Tennessee fans at the beginning of the year these 3 are going to happen and that's all you know about the season, 99% of us would say hell yes bring it on.

1. Tennessee beats the Gators
2. Tennessee beats Georgia
3. Tennessee plays in the Sugar Bowl

At the beginning of this season the majority of us would have been overwhelmingly happy with this. I realize the Sugar Bowl isn't a guarantee but we have a legitimate shot

Conversely

Tennessee blows it vs. Texas A&M
Tennessee gets boat raced by Bama
Tennessee chokes as always(SC)....

Would you be "overwhelmingly happy?"

And the sugar bowl is still far away. Tennessee has another chance to blow it.

I always prefer the best option at the time. It was SECCG before the USC lost, then after the LSU lose it was no longer an option. Now the best option appears to be beat Vandy and Sugar bowl.

No need to dwell on unrealistic options or losses. You simply stay behind the team and encourage then. At NO point, to you tell a group of kids that have poured their heart and soul into this program that they are failures. Let them determine that for themselves. There is also no need to talk about the job security of a coach that has added to the win total every year.

Go Vols.
