Where's Teddy head?

We'd rather beat SC of course, but we'll take 2nd choice any day. There are many cal fans that would rather go to the rose bowl as the second choice than go to the NC game (I know that sounds nuts, and I'm not one of the people who feels this way btw). Many of us honestly wondered whether we would see a rose bowl in our lifetime. If we go to the rose bowl it will be the hottest ticket in 10 years.

Dude...that's nuts.

BTW...I thought your stadium looked awesome on TV. A little in the small side...I'm used to Neyland...but the setting was really cool

Cal will lose 3 or 4 games (leaning towards 3 more than 4 right now).

We beat Cal last year and finished 9-4.

Did you watch the oregon/houston game? Oregon's dline looked horrible. Remember that cal ran for like 200 yards rushing last year and our oline is better and theirs is much worse. I think we win. I'm convinced that UCLA is overrated. I don't think 10-2 is being unrealistic, but as I have mentioned in the past i don't think your prediction is impossible or unfair.

Yeah, you destroyed us last year and we went on to only lost two conference games. One because of bad officiating and lack of will and the other because we got outplayed, again in a hostile environment. No, Cal will only lose one game this year folks, and it probably won't even be to USC. Just be thankful, that will do a hell of a lot for you in the computer BCS rankings when strength of schedule is factored in. Cal has way to many weapons as was demonstrated against a good Tennessee defense. Also, I can't believe what I am reading in some of these threads that act as if the sky is falling for Tennessee.

Tennessee was beat by a great team, yet showed tremendous poise throughout the whole game despite the environment and being down by 17 at one point. I also think Tennessee may have conditioned too much prior to the game because some of the Vols looked a little winded in the third quarter. That happens a lot in first games because coaches want to condition the heck out of the kids. From what I understand you guys were practicing in 102-degree weather quite a bit. With Coker back in the lineup and Ainge feeling better many of the kinks will be worked out by the time you play Florida. Playing Cal first benefits you because now the coaches can see exactly where they need to fix issues. I see the Vols going 10-3 this year, maybe better.

squared it away for you.

We sold 40K tickets (including 15K of tickets that cal fans bought from michigan and then had to sell) to the rose bowl in one week in 2004 when we weren't even sure we were going. Unless we play wisconsin or something, we'll have 70% of the crowd.

Will Oregon be tough Droski?

Their defensive depth is real bad because of a bunch of injuries and guys who flunked out. I saw houston pushing them around and while i agree houston is actually a decent team, that shouldn't be happening to a pac-10 team. Dixon has a history of choking and turning it over in big games. I think they win 9 games but I don't think they will beat Cal or USC. Oregon stadium is a very hard place to play though.

That's because issues have been mounting for a very long time. Some would say since about the end of 2001. It's not as if we lost to Cal and suddenly the sky is falling.

If you want to see people saying the sky is falling then come back here in two weeks...if we are 1-2 at that point. You will see some very interesting things about Fulmer if that is the case

That saddens me greatly. What Fulmer needs now more than ever is to feel he has the support of the fans. I watched that one interview he did the other day inside your luxurious practice facility and it was obvious the guy is under tremendous stress. For a coach who has given so much to your school you should at least afford him the opportunity to right his ship before you call for his head. It took a 1-10 season for Cal to finally fire an atrocious coach who didn’t even have any longstanding ties with the university.

I want to see Tennessee fans get that swagger back. If you watched the other SEC games you should be feeling pretty good about yourselves. Georgia looked pedestrian in their 35 – 14 win over Oky st. Auburn could have been beaten by Kansas st. SC could have been beaten by Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas gave up 26 points to Troy. There is much to be optimistic about if you are a Tenn fan. You can’t throw the towel in yet!

Teddy,

Don't mistake your victory Saturday as proof that Cal is a great football team. That showing was the worst defense I've ever seen by a UT football team and the O should have punched up 38, at worst. Cal's D is going to be a problem all season. The O will probably be pretty strong, but I wouldn't use Sat. night as any true barometer.

If that same D shows up for UT all season, we will be fortunate to play in the Music City Bowl and will easily lose 5-6 ballgames.

As to the conference, UGA was picked by many to lose at home and absolutely drilled OK St. Auburn looked awful, but that doesn't help us in the East. SC is supposed to be an easy W. UF, UGA, AL and AR will trounce us if we play that type weak run D against them.

Teddy...all due respect ...you've been on here for a few months. I appreciate the sentiment but alot of us have been UT fans for 20+ years. It's not as simple as saying that we had a bad day and we'll bounce back. Maybe if we were Cal and we had gotten used to being bad for a long time then we improved drastically it would be differant. We might have a more forgiving outlook. But you are talking about one of the most storied and sucessful college football programs ever that seems to have dropped off to a second tier SEC school.

If this were something that was a few years in the making it would be differant but we haven't won anything significant in almost a decade. And if you had followed UT football closely for the past decade you would know that this downward spiral has come while everyone in the SEC has improved and that's the scary part. Everyone else has taken measures to improve while it's as if we are just hoping the leak in the ship will fix itself as the ship slowly goes down. I'm still not giving up on Fulmer...I love the man and hope to God he can be the one to bring us back to prominence. But even someone as optimistic as me is reaching the end of his rope.

Cal's defense gave up 31 points to a team that completed 1 downfield pass.

The Bears need as much defensive improvement as we do.

I'm going to sit back and watch Cal choke at some point in the season before they even get to USC. Trust me, it's going to happen.

I hope Cal goes undefeated and we somehow get to play them for the National Championship. Why would you want a team that beat us to lose.It only hurts our strength of schedule when they lose. I'd like to think that Cal was better than we expected and we were beaten by a great football team.b

They're really blowing UCLA up at the sports books here. I don't get it. It's the same team from last year.

AND UCLA has the worst, or 2nd worst, coach in the conference.

Yup. and they don't have a single playmaker on offense. I love how they kept showing the highlights against the furd in LA. Yeah they had a lot of big plays, but UCLA receivers looked slow to me. Let's see them do that against a team that actually has a single NFL player on defense. People forget that stanford ranked in the high 100s in the country on defense last season.

I think the d will show enough improvement to allow us to handle the UCLAs and Oregons of the world. USC? :dunno:

Yeah i agree with us looking winded in the third quarter. But it wasn't conditioning that had them winded. It was trying to run down all those speedy weapons cal has on offense.Look guys you play in the pac-10 a conference not known for great defensive play.In the sec if you don't have defense you finish 500.or worse.Thats the way it is.There is no sugar coating it.The preformance at cal by the defense is the worst any of us have seen in the foolmer era.Now was it a one game abberation we will see this week, because we are going to be tested again saturday.
