Actually, he has the stats I put quite closely. You might re-read my post.Well, he has better stats than what you put: .387 / 4 HR / 15 RBI /.587 on base %.....etc. All in limited time and at-bats.
Very, very bright future. Glad he is here. Will be a star.
But you have a very crowded group of studs and a #1 team. Who does he replace? He will continue to get at-bats, and could become a very valuable piece as the season goes. An injury here or there and he becomes REAL important.
He's not missing. Sometimes you wait your turn (Trey Lipscomb anyone?).

This! I would expect to see some guys getting mid-week games off as we near Hoover time . . . one, to give guys a rest . . . two, to get guys game time experience. That's just me though . . . . I would welcome @vol66 @txbo @preacherman20 @TN_gal @cobbwebb0710 @OrngeJuiceJones and others in the forum to chime in on this as it is not only Burke but others as well.

Gotta have both!Let me make it clear that my son has not complained about playing time at all this year. But I have reminded him that being on a great team men’s maybe you don’t get as many innings as you were on the losing team. When he went to college he wanted to play with the best against the best and that is definitely what these guys are getting.
I heard a dad give his son the greatest reply ever the other day when he seemed to be whining a little bit about not getting to play as much as he thought he should. The dad said “then after the season is over transfer to a losing team. I’m sure Iona would give you a full ride and let you pitch and hit.” Gotta love dad wisdom Even if moms don’t

Giving Taylor time behind the dish is no stretch at all. The trick is does he have receiving and calling the game down. As long as he’s plugged into the starter, I’m assuming Blade, we have limited exposure.I don’t see a lot of change happening. The team having the opportunity to play in a minor league park, you gotta reward the guys that have gotten you there and Tech alway plays us tough.
That doesn’t mean that other guys won’t get in, I mean you gotta give Evan a break sometime, for instance.
I think next week if we’re still winning, you could see some changes to the line up in the midweek, I think what we’ve seen so far, pitching wise, won’t change much at all IMO.
I could be wrong on every bit of this.![]()
Gotta be able to trust your catcher. Stromie holds onto Maldonado like his life depends on it.
I have to imagine it’s a tough pill to swallow when these kids are elite ball players that could play anywhere, but they know they can’t win a baseball championship without depth. You need 4 starters, 12+ bullpen arms, 9 guys in the lineup, and a half dozen guys behind them to fill in, pinch hit, and pinch run.Let me make it clear that my son has not complained about playing time at all this year. Wes Rucker commented on Blake Burke yesterday:
There are a wealth of talented guys on the roster and not enough innings to play all of them. Like you, I think several guys are getting playing time during the midweek games who normally are not in the starting weekend lineup. I recall seeing Blake and Charlie playing in earlier midweeks. It's great for Charlie, in particular, because it gives him experience AND gives Evan a rest. I remember one of the baseball beat writers saying that Blake will probably take over 1B next season after Luc's eligibility is up. I realize it's tough getting playing time now, but who knows when a future opportunity might arise (due to injury, illness, etc.) as we head towards postseason. Depth is great to have even if it presents Coach V and staff with difficult roster management decisions. I hope many of these guys understand and have patience to wait. Their opportunities will come (examples: Trey Lipscomb and Christian Scott). Speaking of Where's Waldo, curious about what happened to Ethan Smith? We have hardly seen him pitch.
