I was kinda wondering that myself...I hope he didn't drink to much after the loss to ease the pain!

Hell, he knows everything! Maybe he can help ease our minds over the status of the program.

I think he mentioned some while back that Fulmer left us pretty much bereft of depth and talent. I think the results on the field pretty much bear that out. The sad facts are, our former head coach literally ran this program into a ditch. It's too bad he wasn't given the chance to turn the program around this year. That would have been interesting to watch.

True, but you have to admit, if Fulmer had been coaching on Saturday, it would have been all his fault to the anti-Fulmers. Shouldn't have ran up the middle, should have pulled Crompton, blah, blah, blah, etc.... But, now that Kiffin is leading us, all the Fulmer haters wouldn't dare blame Kiffin for the loss. I don't blame him either, I'm just saying.............

Did anyone blame Fulmer for the UCLA loss last year?

I don't blame coaches for individual game losses. Everyone is an expert when second guessing. I do blame coaches for the overall product on the field. The book is closed on Fulmer, and it's clear he pretty much ran the program into the ground. It is way too early to judge whether Kiffin can get us out of the mess we find ourselves in. But he will be judged in the long term when he has his own players on the field. But if there was any justice, the results for this season should go on Fulmer's record.

Let me start by saying I think Fulmer had been here long enough and things tend to get a little stagnate. Something that, with few exceptions, is pretty much a given at some point.

Having said that how many losses do you think last year's "bereft of talent" team loses last year with Ainge or C Clausen? (hardly great QB's) I think you'd have been looking at a 2 loss team. (FL/AL) Like last year I think this team is in the same boat. There's talent, but we aren't going to score points or move the ball consistenly with our current QB stable. I don't care who the coach is we aren't playing with the big boys until that position is upgraded.

It really is just that simple.

I agree. I guess I was just wanting to take a jab at Hat. Afterall, he did make the ludicrous statement that Kiffin is the best UT coach of his lifetime. Now if he is less than 15 years old, I could possibly buy that......... :) I hope Kiffin ends up being the greatest coach ever at UT, but just because he's bringing in good recruits so far, that doesn't equal wins. It's all about W's and L's.

As far as our talent level, the offensive and defensive line is far below the standards of teams like Alabama, Florida and others. Our depth is seriously lacking everywhere. Yes, the quarterback position stinks, but that the only problem we have.

I think our DL is not too bad. Our OL is absolutely awful. And, I'm concerned that we aren't getting the recruits needed there now. Kiffin and Co. are getting the athletes and skilled position players, but we need some big uglys!!!

No, it's not that simple. You are taking one lousy season for your example. I'm referring to the whole body of work over the last ten years. Maybe your expectations are lower than mine, but I expect more out of a major program like Tennessee. We have discussed Fulmer's record against top 25 teams, against other prominent coaches to death on here, and i'm not going to rehash it.

I think you took what I said too far. I said I thought we had stagnated and I've no issues whatsoever with the change. That changes nothing in how I view the "bereft of talent" argument. I say again we were a 2-3 loss team last year and probably this year also...save for one position on offense.

Don't confuse my position on this with being some kind of Fulmer apologist. Hell, if it makes you feel better put Crompton on your Christmas list. He's almost personally responsible for getting rid of Fulmer. (he'll make Kiffen's first year a lot harder but we'll get over it)

I agree. That's why I amended my post. Strange it shows up on your post, and not in the previous post to your's where it shows the amended one.

I imagine he is under a rock somewhere. He made the statement that the program had been "reborn" after the WKU win. So, as you can see, he really doesn't know a whole lot after all.

Just a little something about being born. Birth can be painful, ask any mother. Then you get a quick smack across the bottom and cry a little.

I seem to recall him sticking by his prediction that this was a 7 or 8 win team after WKU. That's not exactly calling the program reborn unless you were hoping for a rebirth to Fulmer's mediocrity of the past 10 years.

Again, I'll ask you the same thing I asked Posi, where were you after the WKU game claiming the program still had all these problems? Can you show me a post between the WKU and UCLA game where you tried to tell everyone that things were just as bad as last year???

Funny how you can call hat out for saying they were"reborn" after the Hilltopper game yet you wait until after the UCLA game to start your nonsense.
