That was a pretty bad offensive effort tonight. It’s pretty clear, if Turner is not playing well, this team will struggle to score.

We need another scorer besides Turner and Bowden. Who will it or can it be?

Bowden needs to step up and be aggressive.

Outside of that, we need more bench points from Nkamhoua and Gaines.

Also, Johnson is basically a complete non factor. A RS Junior like him should be contributing.

Kinda like the Chattanooga game. They still have a ways to go.

Honestly...it's going to take this team some time to find their identity. You don't lose what we lost and come out like bosses. It will be a hard year but I expect they will find a groove along the way. But, we aren't going to be anywhere close to last season. And...that's ok.

Barnes seems to have a short leash for Johnson. However, first player off the bench tonigh and had 2 turnovers in two minutes. That won't get you much playing time

Wait until we get the Fab 3 next year. Final 4 baby !

TN needs a post player that can score. Grant Williams or the transfer at Florida would have been difference makers versus teams as big as FSU. Uros isn't that guy but could have helped defend the paint.

Offense wasn't packed on the bus with the team. They loaded it with TOs instead.

It seems like lack of bench depth will hurt this team unlike last year. Too many turnovers. No points off the bench. That’s your difference.

It was a bad night. 21 turnovers is completely inexcusable!! Never found an offensive rhythm. FSU is a good team. Very solid. Long and rangy and athletic. FSU played very good defense. For as bad as the Vols were, FSU should have ran away with it. By probably about 15 points.

But.........they didn't, the Vols were still gritty defensively and fought back into it at the end. The Vols hustle and don't quit and that alone will win them some games down the stretch.

Even with as awful as the Vols were at times tonight, they still had a chance to pull it out in the end, but came up short. That is encouraging!!

That says something......

I like this team. We don't know who they are and they don't either. But, I think they are a tourney team. FSU certainly is......

They need to drive to the basket 100% more than they are doing now to off set backline talent and size. Get more free throws. Don't think just DRIVE!

Idk. We do need offense. But from where? We have no inside action going on. I think Bowden can be elite. Was just cold tonight.

I didn't get to watch …. any dribble, dribble, dribble by our pg ? It is difficult to play a game and only have 5 assists.

They had plenty of assists......many were just to the other team.

Heck they even had a few handoffs.......to the other team.

Also worst offensive showing I can remember seeing by a Tennessee team.

I agree...but Bowden can't be that guy every night. My only issue w/ him, though he's fantastic, is he seems to have points in halves...he'll have 19 points in one half and none in the next. Also, think Barnes needs to press James to take more shots...or set some plays for him. Also, Oliver needs more minutes...he's shooting 50% on small sample size. Not a bad loss when many other big teams are losing to far inferior teams.

We also need a true PG. Our guard play burried us deep the first few minutes

Looks like Barnes has confidence in guys, and doesn't look like he's the one holding up some of the others from putting up shots...
“We can’t play with one offensive player on the floor,” Barnes said. “When guys are open, they should shoot their shots.”

The offense is playing for the Celtics.

If you could somehow combine the phrases; chicken with his head cut off and deer in the headlights. You might be able to describe Johnsons two minutes of action. Barnes did him a favor and put him back in his comfort zone. The end of the bench.

Yes, Turner did not look comfortable in that big of a spotlight. He forced some shots and missed some easy ones. Hey, they got it to three in a game it looked like they could lose big.
Bowden disappeared. Turner desperately needs someone to help carry the load.
The good news is several young guys played valuable minutes.

The recruiting issues I’ve lamented were manifested last night. This was a very SEC type game. Very physical m. Barnes has lost three bigs and has not recruited ball handling or shooter depth. It’s coming next year, but not being able to take a grad transfer this year hurt.
