When I first arrived at VN Kiffin had left and I was trying to get more info on potential hires. Prior to that I only read GVX but VN has surplanted that role and then some. It's funny now a year later I am on reading about DC's.
My question to all of VN is what brought you in and what was going on with UT when you did. Pretty easy to see why we stay and spend so much time here but I thought it would be interesting to look back to when we had our first VN experience.

former earth science teacher told me about it after kiffin left. he was talking about how his computer would freeze up when he tried to get on it because so many people were logged in

I joined right after we laid the smackdown on Georgia last year. Kiffin was the man, and I was convinced that we were back on track to dominance.

I'm pretty sure it took me like 2 days after he left before I could log on.

I have been a member about two years, but a lurker since '06. Don't know why I didn't sign up back then.

That's because we were. Too bad it didn't work out that way.

I joined right before the '07 season. No idea how I found the site to begin with. Why I'm still here is pretty obvious though.

No doubt on reasons to stay that thread would be infinite. Maybe as infinite as bad Rod Wilks jokes. Not that Rod is a joke!

I first found this site around the time the fire RS site was winding down and I was wondering if the ship had been righted. Now I am still coming back wondering if the ship has been righted.

The last year of Fulmers reign at the helm of UT was when I started to really follow the VOLS. I will have to say...I bought into the Lane book of goods. :hmm:

When I joined OE typed in normal font and talked about normal things. A few weeks before we killed Cal in 06.

Wow, I've been reading VolNation for a long time. I remember checking the page out back in 2002 (I think), but I didn't become a real member until a while later.

The biggest thing I remember being a topic of conversation was the whole "Phil has lost his touch" debate. The Vols would show flashes of promise, but then we'd end up being outcoached in at least 5 or 6 games during the season and end up getting embarrassed during our bowl game (everybody remember those pathetic performances against Clemson and Maryland in our back-to-back appearances in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl?)

Oh well, water under the bridge now, right? I'm just happy to be on VolNation and to be at home for this Christmas . . . especially since I won't be next year. Hopefully, we'll have even more to be thankful for next holiday season. Merry Christmas to all of you (except the trolls). Go Vols!

I joined just this last summer. Was dying for some Vol news and GVX just wasn't getting it done. Glad I found THE Nation!

I joined at halftime during the Outback Bowl in 2008. Been drinking and had stalked the nation for a year before that. Decided to make my first post in the official thread post for that game.

Joined in 08 I think. I was member of outermonvolia, volquest before this one. This is absolutely the best, up to date UT site. I get breaking news on here faster than even the news gets. The special thing is that it is even better than sites you have to pay for. Thanks Freak for all you do.

stumbled upon it my senior year of high school while trying to pass the time in my english class i was taking for college credit. can't believe that was 6 years ago. time flies.
