Each fall I convince myself that we will be competitive . Then the bottom falls out and the misery begins anew. It is safe to say that if someone (AD) wanted to destroy the once-heralded football program they couldnt have done a better job. The parade of third rate coaches beginning with Dooley and Jones was destined to fail. Beginning with the morally bankrupt ,narcissistic Kiffin and moving on to the reality-challenged Butch Jones - one would need to look under rocks to find to find a worse group of misfits. The cherry on top of this Shite Sundae was the cartoonish search ending with Pruitt. That was ineptitude of a staggering level and made us the laughing stock of the college fb world. That bit of black comedy will likely never be seen again. We are fast approaching a death-spiral . Low fan interest-small crowds-worse recruits- worse football, rinse and repeat. Maybe Pruitt can stop this slide to oblivion, but the results so far are a mixed bag. Being a Vol fan is painful experience . If other schools can revive moribund programs , it must be possible. Why are we drowning in this quicksand of stupidity? The more we struggle the deeper we sink. It is a puzzler.

Nobody knows unfortunately. I've been pessimistic with everything from the day we hired Kiffin.

In year 3, I started to believe I was wrong about Butch.

Too early to tell on Pruitt, but I see some of the same stubborn tendencies I saw in Butch. Maybe he'll be different and he'll adapt.

The man is 3 games in, and if you convinced yourself we were going to be wildly competitive after not winning a conference game last year I’m sorry. I think Pruitt will pan out to be a dang good coach, but these kids aren’t used to a workhorse type coach.

History tells us if pruitt ends up developing into a solid hc we will see major turn around. If 3 years go by and we still.suck, you better pack a few lunches

That quote is not realistic. 90% of our players are weak minded losers. There was defeat written all over their faces by halftime. They are half assed wanna-be SEC caliber ppl. It has caused too much pain, too much misery, etc.
The nightmare ends when you divorce the Vols apparently. Cause I'm the same way, every year it is something different that will actually give us something to look forward too.
The definition of insanity cliche i know, but doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I actually though we would win.
This is BS waste of time and money. THese players don't even deserve me or you as a fan. They are a DISGRACE!

I like Pruitt but basically, we are cursed fellas. That's just the way it is. Doesn't even matter. Why watch the GA Bama AU game? I mean why? really?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that toward the current crop of CBJ players, I meant it toward us fans. I agree with you otherwise. Maybe we the fans will be stronger. It will take 2 yrs of good recruting, 2 yrs of good coaching and 2 yrs of good S&C for the field participants to get stronger (and better as a unit).

My crystal ball says Kentucky is when this starts to turn around. But really, Kiffin screwed us setting us in to a spiral. Then, the Dooley hire was laughable. Jones? He was looking good with strong recruiting and an upward trajectory in wins against some tough competition. But, it became obvious he got lucky with some great players. His coaching, or lack there of, caught up to him. And yes, underlying all this is awful administrations. Thanks, Hamilton.

Now, I know we're once again in a 3 to 4 year rebuild. If this doesn't work, it will have been almost 15 years since we were relevant. So painful.

I don't see how our passion can get stronger man. Eventually, when you are abused over and over and over, no matter how much you love something, you have to walk away for your own health.
I like to think I can tolerate more than most. I've done 4 deployments in 5 years. But really, the loyal fans who actually care about winning and success are going for the door, if they haven't already. The only ones left standing for the Vols are doing it for social reasons and probably don't even understand the rules of the game very well.

It will not be this year, this year will be 3-9. Next year could be worse, losing several 4* guys. Hoping he can replace them and coach them up.

And ppl are so psychologically disrupted from all this, they actually like Kiffin! It's hard to believe. All we endured, he started. Fulmers time was up. And Kiffin went to a school with crazy NCAA violations cause he is a selfish Cali boy with little foresight.

Here is how I perceive this went down. When Fulmer was hired as AD and proceeded to hire Pruitt,The #1 statement that was made. Not a question!Tennessee will return to dominance again by running it down your throat! Phil knew exactly where to go to get the coach to implement the plan desired. Alabama! Make no mistake, When they’re offensive line fires off the ball its 3yds before the back even hits the hole! Take into consideration they’re backs are never under 230lbs! (In time Jeremy Banks) will be that back for us. I think London could be included too. We are undersized on the line.. Tennessee has 1 maybe 2 lineman that I in best judgement that can play run football! Trey Smith possibly Jerome Carvin.

I don't believe in anything supernatural for the most part but the last 15 years for the Vols has given me second thoughts for sure. There isn't a more unlucky team out there. That's for damn sure.

I don’t know what people expected by game 4. We’ll see some quality results in year 4.

The defense is better. We may need a new OC though.

Well isn't that great! YEAR 4. Well hallelujah! Nevermind everything, it will be ok, we just need to put up with horseshit for 4 more years. No thanks.

We’ll improve between now and then. The long slow climb from the bottom rung of the ladder. Just ignore the next 3 games at least.

Relatively speaking
Improving from this remains very unimpressive and means MAYBE we can look forward to beating Vandy and Kentucky.......next year. SMH, FML
