When was the last time?

You've been a huge help. I don't think anyone would have ever come up with some of the ones you found.

Here is the updated list. Did I miss anyone?

Ron Zook
Dale Jones
David Cutcliffe

Nope, not that I turned in, I only got through the AFC and a few NFC teams, I might be missing someone, certainly from the last Majors stint at Pitt, there has to be some. It is striking that there are just as many, if not more, coaches in the NFL from the likes of ETSU, TTech, and Ivy league as there are from SEC/Big 10 etc...It would be interesting to see if there is a General Neyland coaching tree out there somewhere.

Robert Nunn coached at UT 89-90 and is now Def. Tackles coach for Green Bay. No Way!!! Al Saunders currently OC with the Rams coached at UT in 1982!

Ok, that's it for the NFL to the best of my knowledge, that's all the coaches that have direct ties to Tennessee within their resumes. That is leaving out many college coaches with ties to UT over the years back to Bill Battle I'm sure. it seems like for this thread, we only need to go back as far as Majors Tony Dorsett era...young coaches then would be...well...prolly not new fresh energetic possibilities.

The list keeps growing:

Don't forget Al Saunders, and I think his son is a coach as well!

I mentioned both Saunders and Harris earlier. What is interesting here is if you look at the Majors coaching tree vs that of Fulmer.

Well, I guess there are different ways of looking at this but...Coach Fulmer retained the higher level assisitants. Not as many coaches have moved on. I didn't really set out to do any coaching tree stuff at all, it just sort of popped up. I went thru all the coaches I could find in the NFL, figuring others here would find the ones who' left recently or are still on the staff like Jim Bob. There were some guys that were here in the 90's, that would fall under Fulmer's reign. It is unusual that some of these guys like Cutcliff and Chavis stayed for so long, given the respect other coaching staffs give them and that OC's and DC's don't usually stay in one place for long. I know some folks will say Fulmer should have fired them or Fulmer is too loyal, I don't have an opinion on that. After looking at all of the assistants in the NFL from position coaches to coordinators it seems for those who spent time in the college ranks, the average time spent at a school is 2 years. This makes UT unique in that regard, whether good or bad.

Tommy Tuberville! (note: Between assistant coaching positions at Arkansas State and The University Of Miami, in 1985, Tommy ran a catfish restuarant in Tullahoma, Tenn called "Tubby's Catfish Hut" or something like that.) I think this is close enough to UT to link him to the University.:)

True story.

I am unsure why you're impressed by this.

Dude...have you been watching football for the last 10 years. Duke sucks! Cut is a great football coach. He's turning Duke's football program around.

Tee Martin (what is he coaching, high school?)

From the KNS last Saturday

Tee Martin: Starting quarterback, saw limited playing time for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2000-02) and Oakland Raiders (2003-04) with a year in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire (2002) and the CFL with the Winnipeg Bluebombers. Coaches in Gwinnett County in Georgia and works with the Elite 11 quarterback school as the Rivals.com traveling quarterback coach.

By the way, Dickey played at Florida (QB like SOS), but he came to UT via Arkansas. I beleive Battle was sort of a quick hire because Dickey's departure was so suden and lthey were afraid of losing recruits.

By the way, I would like to add Al Wilson to the list as LB coach. We could really use hs heart and intensity

Sorry. Misplaced. I meant why isn't he being mentioned as candidate for UT job? Defensive coordinator, done some good things. Would let an o coordinator come in and open it up.
