the World Series was the biggest sporting event in the country. Now a regular season NFL game draws millions more viewers head to head than the WS.

Even the Vols-UGA drew 12.6 million, which was more than more than the WS.

The NFL is just on another level and probably will be a long time and has been a long time now. Which is why I laughed when the talk of ratings drops about 6 years back, I mean when you're that far ahead you can have some drop and you're still far and away ahead.

I remember growing up in the late 80s and early 90s and baseball was still pretty high. Back then the NFL was probably still higher but it was more even and playoff games would definitely beat regular season NFL games. Now it's not even close. It was telling that ESPN didn't mind letting MLB leave and focusing on NFL, College Football and Basketball, NBA and NHL. They already had gone down to only 1 MLB a week; though ironically their last year of coverage they did get some of their highest ratings in the WC round in a long time.
