When did Ole Miss pass Tennessee???

Seriously, Tennessee is about to hire a guy that Ole Miss decided wasn't good enough for them?

If the coaching pool is really this weak right now than why not give Kippy a year then try again after next season?

If Kippy comes out and exceeds expectations than extend his contract but at least they aren't settling for Cutcliffe.

I don't think Cutcliffe is that much better than Kippy (if at all) and I'm affraid he'll want to replace guys like Chaney, Cregg and Thompson with a weak staff. I think Kippy would be open to keeping most of those guys.

The day we are screwed by the biggest failure EVER at Ole Miss and the Day we hire an ex-mediocre Ole Miss coach to further drive us into obscurity.

your so right A program like Tenn and you settle for Cutcliff Keep Kippy as coach, I rather they go after Smart at Alabama than Cutcliff

I thought it was because he didn't want to hire the assistants the AD at Ole Miss wanted and that caused huge problems and the subsequent terrible year.

Irregardless, it was back-end issues over what Cut could/couldn't do as HFC.

I agree with you but this isn't the NFL. You can't have an interim coach for a year because no recruits will come to your school if they don't know who will be steering the ship the next year. In theory, your idea makes sense but its not realistic in today's college football. But for the record, I don't think Cut is the answer. I'd rather have Kippy as our HC

Because we held on to a one time great coach that rose to the top, won a national championship, got lazy and became satisfied with mediocrity.
We had faith that he would take us back to the top, instead his complacency took the University of Tennessee Football Program from being one of the best in the nation to a very average team at best.

This is a hire Ky. and Vandy wouldn't make. He was a great OC, but as a head coach he has gone 4-12 in the ACC and 9-15 overall in two seasons. Fulmer, in his last two season in the toughest conference in the country, 9-7 in the SEC and 15-11 overall and was fired. WHAT THE HELL IS MH THINKING :no: :eek:

I'm making the assumption that we accept a big loss in this year's recruiting class. It's already taking a big hit and I would rather make the right hire and lose these recruits than hire Cutcliffe and lose recruits for years to come.

And why did Ole Miss want different assistants??? Because they couldn't recruit worth a flip and I have heard one of the hold-ups is that Cut wants his staff rather than the left over Kiffin staff that has proven they can recruit.

Do you want Kurt Roper to be our next OC? Do you want Chavis back? These guys not only suck but they're lazy and don't recruit.

Tennessee can't afford not to recruit nationally. We don't have palm trees and sunshine 365 days a year in our back yard.

Say what you will about Cut, I have my reservations too. BUT Ole Miss made a huge mistake firing him. They looked bad doing it too.

Dont even count Ole Miss. Just look at the last two years at Duke. Worse than his bubby her at UT. How can a program like Tennessee hire someone with a losing record in a sub-par conference?????

DC has performed miracles at DOOK by winning 4 games in the ACC in 2 years. Being from NC that program has been in the crapper for many years before DC. Football is just a prerequisite to keep the basketball team in the ACC and Div I.

Bingo. Some of you aren't keeping score, are you? How about going back down to Oxford for another dose of poor Ole Miss. Cutcliffe is coaching a team with little talent at one of the most demanding schools in the nation. At Ole Miss, he destroyed Miss. State recruiting, had a bad final year and walked out the door rather than terminate position coaches he cared for and believed in.

Get real, people.

going 4-12 in the acc is nothing to be bragging about as miracles, spurrier was 20-13 at duke and won the acc granted it was before they expanded

Yeah Cut only won 9 games in 2 years at Duke...

BUT DUKE HAD ONLY WON 10 GAMES IN THE PREVIOUS 6 YEARS!!!!

You underestimate this hire for a program that needs a steady hand to save them.
