When can we start criticizing Coach Pearl?

Seriously? This a joke of a roster that he has put together. We get abused on the perimeter every game.

1. We have no true PG. Maze is a scoring guard and Tabb is a 2 guard playing PG.

2. This team is full of forwards. Tatum and Hopson are three guards playing the 2. The simply do not have nearly enough quickness to defend any off guard in the country, especially Tatum.

3. Revisiting point 1, we have 2 legitimate guards on the entire roster.

I love what Bruce Pearl has done for this program, but i hope that he has learned his lesson when recruiting players.

I started doing it during the Auburn game. But just to myself. I want to believe Pearl is as good as a maintainer as he is a motivator and builder. But my problems aren't in the roster...its in the lack of discipline. We have players (JP) getting T'd up and Pearl doesn't seem to be bothered by it.
In the Auburn game JP called for the ball from Maze with 2 minutes left and Maze waved him off. JP then went and knocked down an Auburn defender and had an offensive foul called on him. Pearl took Maze out. I don't care if Maze disobeyed a play call, JP lost that game for us and Pearl took the wrong guy out.
Tonight against Ole Miss we reminded me of a Memphis team. A Memphis team without the overall talent. We seemed thuggish and whined a lot.
All that said...I think the Bruce can pull it together. This team has the opportunity to gel as a team in the coming week or so and put together some sort of a run. But I don't like the way we've been playing the last couple of weeks.

be careful when you do because I was told I made the most ignorant post on VN when I said it last night

Pearl is an excellent public relations guy. He is an average coach.

Agree 100%. Anyone who is not questioning some of the things coach pearl has done this season need to open their eyes. Don't get me wrong, Pearl has done a fantastic job since he has gotten here, but you have to question some moves he has made thus far in the season.

.... As has any coach.. Every single coach is going to be questioned on moves. Whether you are able to make a valid point that the moves were bad and what could have been done in stead makes the questions relevant.

I watched both games and saw no resembelence of MEMPHIS at all . Also you have whining and winning mixed up . I think Pearl is terrible with his discipline and should hold his players accountable for their actions . What was bad was JP wasn't even fouled , he stepped on the other guys foot then flopped and then he started yelling at the ref . He has no knowledge of how to act and should be benched !

But he wont be .

And we hardly recruited Terrico White who just shredded us tonight. That is really concerning.

I always love Bruce's open and honest policy during his postgame show. That said, I wish he'd do something about this team's problems.

I'll be at our last three regular season games and the SECT. That could make for some very long drives home.

well it doesnt help when your young point guard you recruit doesnt qualify and have to go to a backup plan in tabb a month before the season starts... also having 6 new guys in the rotation and all of them except maze are fresh outta high school... cut this team some slack...

look at the gators they are coming off back to back championships are they saying donavon sucks after 2 sub par seasons..

Don't let this start sounding like a Kentucky board. PLEASE. We won't win 30 every year... let's not forget all the crap years we had before Bruce. If we had this record back then... we'd be happy lol. Relax folks.

I can't get passed the fact that this team has no heart, nor do they have any basketball IQ whatsoever. JP Prince for an example...needs to have his locker cleaned out and needs to be handed a bus ticket to wherever he so chooses to crawl back to. He's not the only one though...just the head clown in my eyes.

It's like watching a Jerry Green coached team with the lack of discipline going on.

But to answer the OP's question...it's been okay in my book to question Pearl's lack of coaching ability for some time. Losing to a Ole Miss team in that fashion is not acceptable, and just shows more and more that he is not a great coach....

On the bright side...Andy Kennedy will be getting some interests this offseason...and rightfully so. That guy has his players playing some emotional basketball...

I will give Pearl credit for one thing. He doesn't have to watch film to realize this teams shortcomings. I just wonder if he notices Writer32 is at his practices.

I understand your point, but this "Hey at least it's not the Buzz Peterson/Kevin O'Neil/Wade Houston days" line of thinking is getting pretty old. That's only going to work so much longer.

Plus it's 100% valid to criticize the team when they deserve it, and after our last 2 road games, this team 100% deserves it as does Pearl. Just becuase you point out problems doesn't mean you want Pearl gone, and most of us were around in the crappy days when UT basketball was a complete joke, so you don't need to keep reminding us. Not to mention it makes you sound like some apologist who's argument is purely emotional.

Heh... u don't know me very well. I grew up in Kentucky... i heard those jokers cry for a coaches head after every loss from Joe B. Hall to Eddie Sutton to Rick Pitino to Tubby... and now Gillispie. Fact is.... no we aren't playing well to say the least. I'm all for fair criticism... in fact i encourage it, and this team deserves it... but damn... It could be worse... we're still in the conversation... still tied for 1st in the east. There's a huge difference in being spoiled and appreciative. Have a nice day!:salute:

Claiming a share of first in the SEC East is nothing to boast about...

The east is atrocious...

Again, telling us it could be worse, well great. It could be a lot better. As pointed out, being tied for first means pretty much nothing this year.

And it has nothing to do with "beign spoiled", it's that expectations have been raised. I can't speak for you but I'm glad we have actually have expectations and EXPECT to win, instead of being surprised when it happens. Nobody is complaining that we're not winning NCs.

I completely agree! Expectations are great... can't have success without them. Anyway. I guess what i'm saying is u can't take a mule to the Kentucky derby and expect to win... right now we have a mule in comparison to the last couple years. Just gonna hope for the best the rest of the way.

You told the masses to relax because we were tied atop the east...

I think criticism is OK, but this team is without a senior leader. They really don't have the ammo to go out and compete when the chips are stacked against them.

This is an average team. Deal with it.
