He is without a doubt, the best QB to ever play for the University Of Tennessee, and possibly the best QB to ever play the game of football. He was the FIRST overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft, which means he was drafted by the WORST team in the NFL. He turned the Indianapolis Colts into a winning franchise again, and gave them a Super Bowl victory as well. Tom Brady was drafted by the NE Patriots in the 5th round, and the Patriots were a winning franchise at that time. Brady was surrounded by talent on each side of the ball, compared to Peyton who had to work with what he had, and get the Colts back to there winning ways. So will everybody please quit saying that Tom Brady is the superior QB when he is clearly not. All because of ONE interception, he is being called mediocre in the post season. So for all the dumbasses out there trying to blame Peyton for the Colts loss, Peyton didn't lose the Super Bowl, the Colts defense lost them the Super Bowl. I will always respect you Peyton, and everything you have done for the University Of Tennessee. Go Big Orange and Go Colts!

a 9-9 postseason record defines mediocre.

Maybe you haven't seen this game played, but it takes more than 1 player to win a championship.

If Tom Brady had Daniel Lincoln (or any kicker that wasn't Adam Vinateri) who knows how many championships he would have.

Dan Marino didn't win a SB, and Elway didn't until the last 2 years of his career.

I am not even praising Manning and calling him the greatest ever, but if that is all you are going on, then your opinion was skewed to begin with.

I heard Peyton was going to do another commericial to benefit the Tennessee area. He is going to be promoting the "pick six" for the tennessee lottery!

Peyton is the man. The Colts are a fluke onside kick and an interception away from being able to win that game.

Think if the Saints didn't recover that kick and the Colts get the ball on the 45. That's most likely a touchdown and a huge lead for the Colts.

The interception is another story...but you get the point.

Peyton is by far my favorite NFL player, but I absolutely hate the Colts.....

Peyton, at the end of his career, will be the greatest quarterback to ever put on a uniform in the NFL.....

All you need to know about Peyton is watch his press conference after the loss. All class. Unlike some other people that leave and give a minute speech and wont talk to the press.

The OP was arguing against PM being a mediocre playoff QB. Comparing his regular season record to his playoff record suggests the label may be accurate.

Unfortunately, his run in the playoffs at Indy reminds me of his record against Florida while at UT. All his fault? Of course not.

Stating the facts doesn't make me any more/less a fan, just trying to be objective.

whos been throwing that much hate? He got shut down in the second half ans his young receivers can't catch in a stressful environment yet that is the super bowl. The saints had a good gameplan but peyton manning is still the best Qb of all tinme, and especially of those currently playin the game

a 9-9 postseason record defines mediocre.

He won a Super Bowl with the worst run D in the league (worst run D to ever make the playoffs), and he went to a Super Bowl with the worst run O in the league and an average defense. Pretty damn mediocre.

Peyton's greatness is unquestionable; Jim Caldwell's coaching ability is very questionable.

There are plenty of NFL QB's that would die to have a 9-9 playoff record. Most of them will end their career without a single chance.

Your response indicates to me that you wouldn't know success if it hit you between the eyes. I smell a troll.

alright... I overlapped at UT for 3 yrs with PM and live in the Indy area and get to see the Colts play a couple times year live. I couldn't be more pro-PM: how he plays, what he stands for, what he did at UT, and what he's done for the colts and Indy.

Given his (and the teams) regular season dominance the past decade, it's safe to say they (the Colts and PM) have underachieved in the playoffs. You can't argue against that.

If you know football, you know the onside kick was the game. Yeah, the Colts were still in it when he got picked off, but the onside kick was the game changer. You knew when the Saints got that and went and scored (pretty easily) that the game was over. It also didn't help that the Colts played the entire second half without their best defensive player, and the entire year without their second best defensive player.

Just sayin. One game doesn't make or break his career, it just brings people out from under the shed who have always wanted to bash Peyton, but haven't had any ammo since he couldn't beat Florida and loss to... Memphis (gross, that hurts).

I can argue against that. They aren't postseason under-achievers, they are regular season over-achievers.

Was it still over when the Colts responded to the Saints touchdown following the onside kick with a TD of their own to make the score 17-13?

They ran into MUCH BETTER Patriot teams a couple times, and the one team that has had their number in the NFL over the past decade, the Chargers.

Peyton would have been to many more SB's if the Colts were in the NFC.
