1) Tony Jones handles substitutions

2) Pearl grabbed 2 rebounds in theminute or so of game time he was in. Would Howell have done as much?

And what about S. Pearl giving up 4 points straight on his mug in the short time he was on the court. They knew he should not be out there and went straight at him.

And Jordan (who plays a completely DIFFERENT position, by the way) would have done better? Steve Pearl had fouls to give and can play defense better than Howell. That is the only reason he was out there. He came in after Wayne, Brian, Duke, and Childress. If you want Howell playing a forward spot you just let me know.

never know? wouldn't have hurt to try at least. just kind of sucks the last game of your career is the only game you didn't get in the whole year

Granted. This should have been a post on it's own about S. Pearl. I was just commenting on a previous post that mentioned S. Pearl. Not trying to say Howell & S. Pearl sub for each other.

You also said it was shameful for Bruce to put Steve out there when it is Tony Jones that handles the subs....

Howell should have played, I realize he's no threat to score, but no one else exactly lit it up last night. I thought he brought a certain calming influence when he played point and looking back, we could have used that last nite.

That's not true. JP and Ramar both shoot better than 10% - for this year and their careers.

The fact is, last night we needed cooler heads and not go out of control into the lane and rack up what has to be close to a record amount of charge calls (which i admit were questionable). I'm a big Ramar fan and a big JP hater, but they are both out of control at points. They don't run half court plays very well and they act like they're on the And 1 mixtapes on fast breaks...Howell would have added a senior spark that we so desperately needed. Fact is, Pitino kicked Pearl's a$$.

True assistant coaches usually do subs, but the head coach has the authority to make sure they don't get in.

I don't care how bad it may have been to put Howell in. (It couldn't have been much worse) He was a senior and should have been given the chance to play a couple of mins.

I think Howell would have been the best ball handler to face Louisville's press. JP Prince is no more a ball handler than Brian Williams. I still can't believe that Howell didn't get in the game. Lofton should have been benched when it was obvious that his ankle was bothering him and after about the 10th miss. Pearl did a terrible job last night and showed us that he is human. When one guy can stand under the basket and get his own rebound time after time, it doesn't really matter how you coach or who plays. I am honestly starting to believe that Pearl teaches them not to box out. Boxing out is something that I learned in 3rd grade and these guys refuse to do it. When the ball is shot,none of our guys will put a body on the opposing team. We simply wait for the ball to come off the rim and try to outjump the opponent to get it. I'm dissappointed that Pearl doesn't make these guys box out. He should yank them out of the game until they agree to start boxing out. The things that i'm talking about are issues that highschool coaches do. I really question why this team is not made to box out. It just seems so obvious that we aren't doing this and that we should be.

1. If Howell had been in our offense would have looked worse than it already did. Their zone would slump off of Howell and the free throw line and paint would never be open. They would dare Howell to take the three, and if he did he would brick every one.

2. Comparing Steven Pearl's playing time to Howell's is asinine. I'm sure Howell would have been playing if Ramar and JP were in the foul trouble that Chism and Tyler were in.

Yeah, fast and offensively inept wasn't working, so maybe we should have turned to a slower and less offensively potent approach.

I wasn't Comparing Steven Pearl's time to Howell's. The reason coach gave for the change at point was he wanted to get the best players on the floor. That is why he started JP. Do you think Steven Pearl is one of our best players? Ha! You have Childress, Williams, Chism, Smith, and Crews. There is no way Pearl should see the floor with those players availble in a NCAA game. Come on. You know why he played. Everyone does. It's because it's his son. Which isn't right.

All I said was Jordan deserved a few minutes of playing time. If it didn't work out fine. But the kid deserved a chance. He is a senior.
