Has anyone pronged the goal post more times than Medley?

I'm not posting this to backhandedly criticize. It just seems like a phenominal percentage of his FGAs have intercepted aluminum.

As best I can figure, the uprights are only 4" in diameter. The target area between them is 18' 6" wide. The mathematical likelihood seems infinitesimal. It'd be a heckuva trick shot to hit one on purpose.

 If I wanted to mine bauxite, I'd fly around with Medley kicking footballs out of the plane and use him like a divining rod.

The answer has to be no. I've never seen anything like it. The more disturbing point to be made is that after 28 career games, Medley has hit only 6 of 19 kicks beyond 40 yards now.....31.6%. Ugh.

I've said it before and I'am saying it again. He seems to line up a little to his right. Won't show up so much on short shots. However, think sometimes I see this on PATS. Most of his tries look to be straight as an arrow, just think its lining up a little to the right.

Aaron Medely, University of Tennessee, 10 of 114 attempts off the upright. 7 of those off the right upright alone. 2 hit the upright and still went through.

I just made those stats up but they felt legitimate when I typed it.

It sounds legit; I'll go with it.

AND cannot consistently get a kickoff through the end zone, burns me up when I see other schools especially small schools and some high schools do it with regularity.

I actually think we practice directional kick offs, because if you notice, he always kicks toward one side or the other and kinda pins the return unit to one side of the field. It generally results in our kick coverage team blowing up the returner for less yardage than if they'd gotten a touchback.

This. It's clear watching him kick that they have taught him to kick it high and to one side of the field.most of the time the ball comes down right near the goaline, and our coverage team is already at the 30 yard line.

That's funny. He is either aiming for them or he is aiming poorly.

Somebody that's sitting in tw endzone needs to bring a big target for him to use. Have the holder and Medley direct where it needs to be when kicking off the hash. If we are going to run a play that is settling for a FG, line it up. I hate lining up for a FG.

It's a gamble. If you can kick it thru the endzone but choose to go high to pin them inside the 25, possibly cause a fumble, that's a risk worth taking. So far it has worked out good for us, or I have just blocked out all the times it was bad for us(info that a lot).

I had the exact same thought last night. Between hitting posts and barely missing against Florida last year, he has more razor thin misses than any kicker I can remember.
