Yea that construction is quite a hassle when walking to class, its a b***h trying to get into alumni memorial building, but its worth it because the final result will be amazing opening for the 2010 season.

TENNESSEE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Facilities

you can look here for the renovations and master plan update

Neyland is going to look sah-wheat once all these renovations are done. The brick put up thus far looks very nice and the iron skeleton they've erected for the core of the new Gate 21 is huge. I can't wait to see the finished product. But yes, to answer the original question the plan is to have a statue of Gen. Neyland up by the beginning of the 2010 season. I think that is a great idea.

A bama fan was telling me today that the $40 million Bryant Denny expansion would make their stadium bigger than UT's! I thought UT was still bigger.

I can't help but think of Brian Dennehy when anyone mentions that stadium in Tuscaloosa.

it will be bigger but the only way it will be better is if they decide to move it to another state

Actually I believe Bama's will be equal if not bigger. Their site says their capacity will be 101,000 and ours will be over 100,000. It's all about how many seats we can fudge into the numbers.

Doesn't matter which one is bigger, what matters is which one is better, as in football team. Doesn't matter how many seats a stadium has if the seats are empty because of a mediocre team.

I guess we will lose twice then. I eagerly await the day that UT goes undefeated in SEC play two years in a row.

Our stadium will still be bigger and with the new renovations much nicer

Alabama's capacity will be bigger. And it's a travesty Mike Hamilton's allowed it to happen. That's the ONLY thing UT's had to hang its hat on at least over the past several years.

Considering how it will look in the long run, losing a few thousand seats to make Neyland nicer and more attractive to fans and recruits, I am for that concession.

At Bama they only give you half a seat and no room to stand up when your team is doing good....Last year for example....Neyland is crowded but not like the visitor's seats at Bryant Denny

I want my cake and eat it too. i want them to mount
150k vibrating lazy boy recliners in neyland with cup holders . They can give the visiting fans milk crates turned upside down to sit on on top of the skyboxes to help with some of the room. just a thought
