Running 5 miles and swimming laps for an hour. ZZZZzzzzzzzz.....

Also, reading a boring novel.

Think of things in your brain in orders.

Think SEC Football players. Think as many as you can. Go even deeper into that category. 1980's SEC football players, etc. and so on.

Worked for me.

Coming from someone who averages 3 hours of sleep a night and dealt with this most of my life, I can tell you I haven't found one. I take Lunesta for that 3 hours but don't get the 8. I run every day and do weight training and that doesn't seem to help either. I just have a really active brain and it's hard to shut it down. Let me know if you find one.

I know. It's to the point that I have to go to bed at 4 or 5 just so I can get up when everyone else does. It's a balancing act I guess. Like once every two weeks, I'll have a day that I just sleep because my body crashes, but that's hard when that day's not on a weekend. It sucks. I'd kill for 8 hours a night and waking up feeling refreshed.

Well, Tiger Woods has talked about how he runs off 4-5 hours sleep. I'm kind of like that if I get over 6 hours my body feels sluggish all day. Different strokes, fellas.

You might consider seeing a Neurologist that specializes in sleep disturbances, especially if the insomnia is interfering with your daytime responsibilities.

I have trouble staying asleep myself. I did where medication was a short term solution as opposed to getting to the root of the problem normally too much anxiety in your life. As for myself, I have a lot of things going on, a lot on my plate.[l not really that bad, but a lot I guess you call life's general stresses. I need to knock one at a time and probably would sleep better. Somedays I sleep a little longer, but out of 8 hours, 4-6 , with increments of 2 hours is the normal average.
