It doesn't matter If Haslam is in control, If PF really Loves UT, He can do whatever he wants, and not have to worry about Losing his Job. No Way In Hell they would Fire anyone now. I Hope Phil has the Cajones to do right by his Alma Mater. Fixed it TYVM.

You wanna see the end of UT football?

Watch the chancellor fire our championship winning coach and championship winning QB in the same week because they are both grossly in over their heads in their roles.

We are halfway there.

The way I am starting to see this... Haslam uses his money to influence those on the board to see things his way. While he was on the search committee (with Peyton), they had a lot of sway in the AD choice and steam rolled that decision.

But... he is not part of the head coaching committee... and if he has pizzed off board members sufficiently, his voice in the decision should be muted. Of course he does have control of the donations he may or may not make to the university... so I would assume he is in play to some degree.

But Phil likely will drive this thing start to finish...

There is a big difference in feeling like Phil is the right person to be the AD as opposed to no longer being the right guy as the head coach.

I would say he is at a point in his life where he is not the least bit worried about being fired. He has already built his legacy as a player and a coach.
That allows him to make the right choices for the right reasons and I believe he loves the VOLS and will do everything he can to get us back to the top.

Hopefully Phil can do what he wants we don't want the owner of the Cleveland Browns making football decisions for the Vols. Ok if the Gators or Bama would let him make theirs.

He also has the maturity and savvy to avoid the fatal mistake Currie made by violating the cardinal rule: you never over promise, and always over deliver. Go Vols!

Because it's that simple lol

it really is. He's the Athletic Director and Davenport has given him full control of the search. Thornton/Ergen/Anderson will get the money if Phil wants someone.

Agree... that is the process. Keeping the evil Haslam out of the mix is the hard part.

You saying Ms D is going to both hire, then fire, Tee?

If he can do whatever he wants to, I hope to convince him to hire Insane Clown Posse to run the football program. Multiple hires made simultaneously should be the most efficient solution to the current conundrum.

Unfortunately Fulmer was not handed the check book, Davenport and DiPietro have to approve financials, with help from, let's just say, other boosters*:)

Tee isn't even hired and you're skipping ahead to him being hired and then assuming him and Fulmer both end up being incompetent? Pretty sure we're nowhere near halfway to that...
