Looks to me like the over/under is 5.5 based on the language of the wager. If I wasn't degree-poor I'd love to supplement that bet up to 2k. If we win less than 7 this year, I'll be shocked.

While my gut says "take it all day long," my head reminds me that we have only a QB that was terrible last year, an unproven/underclassed (by UT standards) receiving corps, mediocre lines on both sides of the ball, and special teams that are anything but. We have been blown out by Florida and Alabama and squandered our only chance at an SEC title in years. We were beaten last year by Wyoming...at home...and nearly also by Northern Illinois...also at home.

We now rest our hopes in a stellar defensive secondary, two outstanding freshmen recruits, and a new coach with no experience in his current position (although I do really like the guy).

Is it really unrealistic to think we might do the unthinkable and repeat the 2005 performance? I don't think so.

A better bet would be that we will win more than 6...two years from now.

I agree 100% , but I do see the upside. If you win the bet, you hope the other person actually pays up. If you lose, then you disappear from the message board and don't have to pay a dime.

I feel completely confident that we'll win at least six. We should win at least seven, and we really could win eight or nine.
