Well thankfully this season is coming to a close!!!!!!:dance2: We all know it's going to be a new coach/staff to some degree. Who knows who it will be? I have been optimistic about the future but watching Michigan suck so bad now worries me. What's the chances of us having the same thing happen? I don't expect a huge turn around next season but I do think we will be a little better than this season. After all there is only so much you can do with the players we have and recruits will be thin at best.

Oh please let us compete a little better in 09. I can't take another one like this.

Another 1st year coach with a fine intellect rep and proven past excellence on a big salary at a storied program of 129 seasons leads a team with a 1st ever 8 losses in a season...I give you Michigan's HC. We could see the same path, be prepared. I'm just sayin...

Y'know, when I look at what Michigan did, and how they did it, it seems to me to be a case of "be careful what you wish for". RR made a name for himself at WVU, and he might do the same at UM, but despite the fact that he doesn't have "his" athletes to run "his" offense, you have to wonder if the Big 10, and it's talent level, might be just a bit too big for RR. The WVU defense (3-3-5) never impressed me. Nor has it impressed UM opponents this season.

Is there a parallel at UT? Maybe. It's safe to assume that a new coach, with a new system, will have to play with the players he's got until his recruits mature. As UM has proven, that can mean lean times in the beginning.

UT has decent talent across the board, and a few potential stars. If we hire the right guy, and he can find a way to mold our talent to fit his system, 2009 could be a good year. 8 or 9 wins, and a respectable bowl game.

We'll see.

Go Vols.

Michigan is a crazy scenario altogether. They had completely the exact opposite of the offensive personnel needed to run the new O. Plus Michigan lost all of it's leadership on offense. The 4 year starting QB, RB, OT and 2 WRs...all went to the NFL. So the youth, which isn't even a fit for the system, is a major issue.

So that will depend on who is brought in and what their system is all about...hopefully we don't repeat the Ann Arbor fiasco.

On the reverse side of the coin you have Urban Meyer. He's also a golden boy who inherited a great team. Yet he came outta the gate successful and stayed that way, with no curve in recruit maturing. A smarter, more disciplined football mind than mine should take a hard look at these two examples when choosing a new head coach....ahem Hamilton? Hamilton?....Bueller?

Depends on who we hire, it won't be a overnight fix. But if its worse than 3-9 then hamilton needs to polish up his resume.
