South Carolina- Defense isn't that good

Florida- Brantley threw 1 TD and 2 INT against an awful FAU team that would probably give up 40 pts. vs. Montana.

Georgia is who we thought they were

Kentucky is bad

Vandy had a pretty good game vs. a pathetic opponent

Tennessee had a good passing game and needs much improvement in the running game.

Conclusion: East is wide open between UT, FL, UGA, and USC.

I love how this is structured so that all the other teams look bad in comparison to Tennessee :)

I watched the Florida game and FAU is not a horrible team. They were better than Montana. Florida has too many weapons on the outside and Charlie Weis called a great offensive gameplan. He is going to cause fits for our linebackers and they will beat us. Also, Florida's front seven looked nasty. They have tons of explosive defensive players including Ronald Powell.

Umm FAU is awful. They are entering in their 6th year as a football program IIRC. They were 3-9 last year in the Sun Belt.

Not really pointing out some weaknesses of each. USC's offense is very good, Florida's front 7 looked good, and I couldn't really point out a big strength of UGA.

Looks spot on to me.

Even with the 1 TD 2 INT performance, Brantley looked 100 times better than he did at any point during last season.

Tennessee's is spot on because if they can't figure out how to run the ball, its going to be difficult for Bray to put up big passing numbers every game to win.

UGA's performance last night doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. They were so bipolar last season, that I wouldn't be surprised if they turn around and give USCe an arsewhooping next week, and then lose the following week :dance2:

Kentucky is Kentucky.

Vandy actually looked pretty decent offensively last night.

USCe's QB situation could be that team's downfall if Spurrier decides to screw with his QB's minds all season long. Plus, that defense is a little suspect, but again first week of the season doesn't mean that much.

Brantley played a team that is awful, and he couldn't have a positive TD-INT ratio. Define competent.

I'm not going to even bother because obviously you just look at the stat line and didn't actually watch UF play.

I did watch the game, and I saw what people said coming out of the offseason for Florida. You are going to try and dink and dunk your way down the field with curls, screens, and swing passes to RBs out of the backfield. There is no WR that scares me in 1 on 1 coverage. He threw 2 INTs against a team that not long ago just started football and is awful. You can try to deny that all you want, but that is not a competent SEC QB.

Oh jesus, so basically Tennessee can be vanilla and struggle and that's okay? But if UF has a few hiccups in a new system while playing vanilla (if you don't think that UF offense last night wasn't vanilla, you're dumb...), that's unacceptable?

My point is Brantley looks MORE comfortable, and MORE confident, than at any point last season. I don't give a crap about the 2 INT's; even the commentators said they weren't his fault, because the 1st was tipped, and the 2nd required a perfect throw on a play that Weis specifically loved to call for Tom Brady years ago...

Florida's offense is going to be very vanilla all year. It's a dink and dunk offense just like it was in the Spring for you guys and then again in the Summer and Fall.

Florida has speed. Crazy speed. Both on O and D. The offense is much improved from last year, but UT will be its first real measuring stick to see where they are.

The D is really, really good. D-lineman are the best in the NCAA. Will give our running game fits and pressure Bray all day long.

It will be a very interesting game.

Agreed. Was very impressed with that front 7 speed of theirs.

When the box is stacked as it was on EVERY defensive play for Montana, yes, alot of pass. Otherwise, you'd be a fool to overlook Poole and Lane.

Agreed, we will see if our passing game can beat your QB that can't must more than 1 TD and 2 INTs vs. FAU.

Hahahahahah... Oh boy... This Vols beating UF talk reminds me alot of last year... Not saying I won't be surprised if it happens, but you guys seem SUPREMELY confident that it will.

Last year? I hope no one was talking trash last year with the team we had at that point in the season. However, with Florida's strengths and weaknesses and our strengths and weaknesses, I like where we are in the matchup vs. Florida.

I guess if you want, you could go back and look up old threads about how UF's snap issues, Brantley sucking, and incompetence on offense would allow UT to pull a MAJOR upset.

Trust me, I haven't posted much, but I do remember that last year ^^
