What was the first Vols Football game you attended

First game of the season 1970.
SMU. I think they had a QB by the name of Chuck Hixson who had ravaged Auburn the previous year. But the UT defense convinced him that Bobby Scott was the best QB on the field that day.

That was my first game my freshman year as a member of the POTSB. One of the hottest days ever in that black uniform was miserable.

One of the best games ever played in Neyland. Only 55,000 witnesses and my cousin and I had picked up two tickets at a deli on Chapman Highway in section SS for $5/each. It appeared from our seats that Holloway was throwing the ball away on the 2 point conversion to see Seivers come out of no where to leap into the air and make one of his patented grabs.

Sep 2, 2006 vs the California golden bears I was 13.It all went down hill from there 🤣1-5 in games I’ve attended and haven’t been back since the Oklahoma game.

‘70 v. Bama 24-0 good guys if I recall.
Also, Bear was seen taking his sport coat off and laying down on the bench late 2nd half.
The last time both teams wore their home colors in theTSIO. Alabama petitioned the conference the next summer to force one team to have to wear white jerseys. It was a shot at UT.

October 10, 1964 The Vols came back to defeat Boston College 16-14.
'64 was Doug Dickey's first year as head coach, and this game was the debut of the checkerboard endzones.
View attachment 811219I'm the little guy on the left side of the stadium, sitting next to the big Marine Gunny (my Dad). :)
My first game also.

The Canadian Football League style road uniforms that I wish we used today for road unis. Those were pure. I had a Condredge Holloway #7 and a Haskell Stanback #24. Both gifts

November 1964. In Knoxville. KY 12 TN 7. Cold day. 15 punts. Doug Dickeys first year. We only won 1 SEC game in ‘64 and this one had to hurt. Played 3 QBs including the AA punter and BB star Ron Widby. Future All American LB Paul Naumoff played WR in this game! You would never see that happening again! Obviously Dickey had to improvise a bit with what he inherited. I was 6 years old and all I remember is eating a cold hot dog.

UCLA in Memphis at the end of the year (1965?), they had Mel Farr at RB and he gave us fits. I still have his trading card from his days with the Detroit Lions. All the neighborhood kids would argue over who got to be Bubba Wyche when we played backyard football.

My first home game wasn’t for a few more years, I think it was DAD’s last year. My sister was a student and was married to a member of the tennis team, and she worked in the ticket office for Gus. Starting with Battle’s first year my dad got to buy tickets from a doctor who had a block of them on the 40, and I didn’t miss a home game until the fall of 1979 ( my sophomore year at UT) because I had mono.

Really...LOL...all I remember is USC throwing the ball 3 yards past the line of scrimmage and then Allen taking it for 12 to 20 yds. And everyone chanting Noonan...Noonan. I was young.
In all fairness, they did blast us in The Coliseum the year before.

1965 vs. Army. Shields Watkin's Field. First time they ran through the T was that day (didn't remember that, read it later, but hey, I was there) Section K. My favorite player: Jerry Smith

I was at that game. That damn Foghorn was still going off as I was walking to the car. Will never go back there, no matter what.

The '92 Florida game I think. We were fortunate to be under the second deck and stayed mostly dry.
