My guess would be 75,000 at kickoff - 50,000 in the 2nd half. 40,000 with 8 minutes left in the game.

There needs to be a better way to count attendance or at least the university needs to be more forthright with them.

No way more than 75,000 were there. And the crowd noise never rose above a faint yell the whole game. Well, maybe when everyone thought the qb threw the ball past line of scrimmage. By then, everybody was in such disbelief, they were hoping against all hope that this team wasn't really bad enough to lose to Wyoming.

Sounds like going to a small college game.

Go to see your friends and there is a football game too!

To anyone who was there Saturday, is it true that there was rousing laughter in the stadium when Denton announced that 99k?

I was at the Ball State game Tuesday and there was so much more noise and fan participation. This was my first trip to Neyland - been a life long Vol fan. I was very disappointed with the fans, the students, and the strip was DEAD! Can't wait to see what it's like after a Victory!

Didn't hear him announce it. I was most likely in complete and total shock that UT was down 13-0 to Wyoming and knew there was no way that they could score enough points to recover from it. :cray:

IDIOT???? Thanks for the welcome. you obviously read something else into my post. I'll try to explain it for you...try to read it slower....

I was disappointed in that it was my first time to a game, UT lost, everyone was upset - Including this IDIOT- I was disappointed that I didn't get to experience a win and the atmosphere that comes with a win for my first trek to Neyland.

Now, about the Idiot comment, maybe I need to type slower so you can understand what I mean.....

Frm UT Sports:

Attendance: 99489

Official attendance numbers for ALL NCAA events count ANYONE (including ticket takers ushers, concession workers and press) who is involved in anyway with the work force or fans in attendance of the event. In other words if someone is in the stadium they are counted.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

There is no way we had 99000 there for that game.

UT coaches are getting paid big money to win big games. Losing to a mediocre wyoming team -- totally unacceptable. I'm surprised there were 80,000 people there to watch that dreadful performance.
