What W/L record next season should force Fulmer to retire?

Unless Fulmer wins the SEC next year, I want him out.

But I think unless he goes 3-9, Hamilton will put up with him.

But 6-7 or below, failing to make a bowl or making one, losing, and finishing under 500, should FORCE him out.

I voted 5-7, but I mean 6-7.

I voted 5-7, no bowl game losing regular season.

With Arkansas, Ga, FL, Alabama, and SC 5 losses are a real possibility. 7 losses I think would be a meltdown with a loss to Cal and Kentucky. Not outside the realm of possibility bu not likely.

a agree with 3-9, it should be on there. i voted gone already because i didn't see a option i liked. i'm interested to see what he does next year though.. and does anyone find it odd that he's not fired, but forced to "retire"?

I thought the scenario where Fulmer retired instead of being fired with Hamilton as AD was more likely. I think Fulmer is 60+ and has been at UT for 20+ years as an assistant and HC so retiring would allow him to go out gracefully.

I agree. I'd much rather him just retire than be fired, if it comes down to him needing to go.

Where's Hamilton going to go, if Fulmers no longer the coach, wouldn't he move to AD?

I thought Fulmer would be like a special assistant to the AD like Majors was at Pittsburgh when he stepped down. Its a much more graceful departure.

I don't think he'll leave as the coach next year, but when he does why wouldn't he want to be AD, ala Broyles at Arkansas, or Alvarez, at Wisconsin

It's not the won/loss but who he beats...... Florida,Bama, S. Carolina, Arkansas.....If he loses more than two of these......send him packing!

Realistic I think Hamilton's is in a tough spot. Fulmer was instrumental in getting him hired as AD. Fulmer would have to have a losing regular season and no bowl game before Hamilton would be forced to act IMO.

That means 5-7 with losses to Fl,GA, Bama, Arkansas, Cal, SC, and Ky. I can't see that happening in one season with Cutcliffe on board as the OC. I think Fulmer is pretty safe.

But I hope if we win one, it won't blind us for the next 5 years... If he wins an SEC title next year, I would give him a 2 year no fire barring total disaster cusion.
