Why is everyone down on this Staub kid when you know nothing about him? Typical know nothings acting like the authorities on every thing football.

A lot of folks looked at JA’s TD/Int ratio at App State and wrote him off too. We have some talent at QB, it’s just unproven talent.

I will take your word for it because my brain is slipping we did have 2 ties in 85. We were the hottest team in college football and finished 4th in both polls. Had there been a playoff we would have won the NC and shocked the world. Living in Europe and had a friend send me every game on a weekly basis on VHS tape so I got to see the season. About 20 years I played several of those games when I found the tapes and the VHS. The UCLA game we were winning by 16 pts with 5 minutes + remaining. That one slipped away. The Auburn game was a beat down of Bo Jackson and the #1 Auburn team. What a season.

I was at the UCLA game, I loved Johnny Majors but he went super conservative in the last 6:00 minutes of the UCLA game. We had that game in control, we should have won. We tied UCLA and Georgia Tech in 1985. It was a great season and a great team. We could have easily won it all with a few more bounces, we were the hottest team at the end of the year. GBO

Well, he's currently the only QB on the roster with any serious P4 experience, as I said, which is more P4 experience than Joey A had when he started.

I'd not bet on him starting but after Nico left and Joey came, several thought Merk would easily be QB1.

The dice are in the cup as far as I'm concerned and waiting to be rolled for who is QB1.

He did not have more p4 experience than Joey… Joey started 2 seasons at app state and had games vs Clemson and North Carolina… amongst 2 full seasons worth of starting d1 experience.. not saying that staub couldn’t work but he has no where close to the experience Joey brought in any way… I hope it’s G mac or Faizon.
