What should the first play of the season be?

The priority is to score a touchdown at all cost because of the fresh faces especially at QB and build confidence. This is easily a running play up the middle. Not getting cute. Most likely followed by another play up the middle. We need good momentum fast and style points aren't important.

Just give whatever QB is on the field a simple reception....it will go miles for his head. Slowly build off that in that first quarter. Who cares if it's a screen.

Handoff up the middle or a WR screen if they’re feeling frisky. Which beats the Pruitt era of getting your QB destroyed before a whole second has ticked off the clock or the QB rifling a pass at a running back 3 yards in front of him that gets intercepted on play 2.
The opening play of Pruitt’s career is the worst opening play I’ve even seen and was foreshadowing of the roller coaster of that $hitshow of an offense during his tenure.

Butch started EVERY series handing off to RB off left tackle, usually Hurd. Couldn't blame him for transferring IMO! But Heup- long TD pass to anybody makes me happy!
