kentucky is in, ole miss needs to win 1 more regular season game and at least one, maybe 2 games in the tourney

Ole Miss is 7-7 in the league, and their overall resume isn't even close to being good enough to get in at 8-8. They have to win their last two games and at least one in the tourney to be discussed by the committee.

so we agree that they need three more wins right? i agree that they will have to win one in the sec tourney if they win their final two in the reg season. i think if they split their last two games and go to the sec tournament final, they are in

I'm not buying that the SEC gets only 4 teams in. Florida, UT, Vandy and UK are done deals. The fifth team will be whoever performs best in the last 2 games and the SECT - Alabama's probably slightly ahead of the field, with Ole Miss, Miss. St., and Georgia in the mix. Everybody else is done.

Interestingly, Joe Lunardi's Bracketology has UT as an 8 seed, playing Texas Tech in the first round, and would face UCLA in the second round should they win. That would be, in my opinion, just about the worst possible draw they could get. Texas Tech would be a VERY tough matchup for UT. One hell of a coaching matchup - Pearl vs. The General. And as much as I hate to say it, UCLA would probably wax UT with little trouble.

I hope we don't travel this road either.

A&M has beaten Kansas at the Phog, easily handled Texas, Ok St. twice, Winthrop, and only lost to UCLA by 3 on the road. They are definately deserving of a 1 seed if they get it.

A&M also lost to LSU, which some have deemed Florida unworthy of a #1 after they lost to LSU.

Okay, based upon current RPI ratings, the following teams are "in":

Florida(25-4), Kentucky(19-9), Tennessee(20-9), Vanderbilt(18-9)

on the "bubble" are Alabama(19-9), Georgia(16-10), and Ole Miss(18-10).

Miss State(16-11) and Arkansas(16-12) can still get on the "bubble", however, it will be difficult for Ark 'cause they will have a losing SEC record even if they win their last 2.

All the teams mentioned above are in the top 65 of the RPI rankings. The "in" teams are all in the top 30. No team from a big conference has been left out of the tourney with a RPI rating better than 40.

Bubble teams' upcoming games:

Alabama - Miss, @MSU
Georgia - @KY, TN
Mississippi - @ALA, AUB
Miss State - @ARK, ALA
Arkansas - MSU, @VANDY
