What puzzles me about Dobbs

Why can't we give the others a shot. They can't throw passes and win bowl and rivalry games if they are never given the shot.
Muschump just beat us doing that very thing. Think he found something special. Eason at ga is going to be a menace as well

I'm talking prior to last night's game

If Dobbs gives the Vols the best chance to win, then he aslo gives the Vols the best chance to lose....time to move on from Dobbs....great young man, but not the answer for the hapless Vols:unsure:

I have always thought that Dobbs had a lot of potential. He is what made the offense work and really take off two years ago and that played a big part in starting to turn the program around. But he looked about the same last year as he did his sophomore year. There wasn't much improvement. Other than a pretty good performance against Florida and some flashes in other games, he looks like he has regressed this year.

I think a poor o-line, play calling, and coaching have led to what we saw last night. He looks like he has lost his confidence. His ceiling probably isn't as high as I had hoped, but we all know from the way he has played in the past that he should be a lot better than he is right now. I don't want to completely give up on him, but this next game is a good chance to give Dobbs and Dormady equal snaps and see who will run the offense better.

I guess I appreciate Dobbs more than many others, but I am looking forward to seeing if our offense takes a big step forward with Dormady or Guarantano next season. I also think our running game could be better with Kelly than Hurd just because Hurd doesn't fit the system as well. Year two under Shoop with a (hopefully) healthy roster can make a big leap. There are still things to look forward to (hopefully a new OC and QB coach), but we should've won the East this season and last night was just disgusting.

eh, i think Dobbs with his athletic ability and the known issues we've had on the O line the last 3 years, he was, and is, still the best option back there. he hasn't, and still isn't, a good passer of the ball, and for all of his smarts, he lacks football iq needed in this league. and you can cite example after example showing this. last night was his worst performance as a UT quarterback, and that's sad, because he should go down as a true VFL. i like Dobbs, and i think he has meant a lot to this program, and his off field attributes combined with what he has done on the field is what we would all want from any college athlete.

last night was the culmination of a lot of things we've seen and picked apart all season long. he was woefully inaccurate lastnight, the O line was terrible, we couldn't run the ball and WR's /TE's still dropped balls, and if there was an offensive game plan, i couldn't tell what it was.

I've been behind Dobbs all season, but my confidence is gone now. I just looked up the stats: Dobbs is tied for 2nd for most interceptions among all FBS quarterbacks. Factor in his fumbles and I'm guessing he has more turnovers than any other college player this season.

Wow. That is just baffling. So many people both locally and nationally had him pegged as a shoe-in to be one of the top 5-10 best players in college football this year. What a difference a couple of months make.

And here lies the issue that most people don't pick up on. Becauae we assune hes so intelligent that that will translate into football.

Dobbs doesn't have a good Football intelligence.

- When gets sacked its hardly ever while stepping up in the pocket. That dude loses 10 yards or MORE on a sack everytime!! How the F is that possible so often?? Because he doesn't have the football sense to realize he's putting himself in a whole.

- he doesn't learn from where he succeeded and build on it. Ex: Why did he stop throwing to his check downs?? That's what kept us from being blown out by the Aggies.

Ever since Dobbs got in the head UGA game, hes been different. I'm not talking about concussions... I believe hes worried about his brain and protecting it for career purposes. That's why he's not running. He's not focusing of football. He's thinking about danger instead.

I would like to see us start working toward next year. More reps for Dormady and others . We're still going to be bowl eligible doesn't matter which one. Stop trying to force a round peg into a square hole.
I wish they would try to force a round peg into a square hole, it would be better than trying to force a square peg into a round hole; which is what appears to be happening. Just kidding on ya, your point is correct. :good!:

Lack of coaching... fundamentals at QB is missing. I feel for Dobbs. I put this on Butch. And I assume if the next man up does not have the fundamentals instilled in him, he will struggle back there as well. There is no coaching support worth a dime at QB.

Dobbs just had a bad night w/o much help with his other skill players. Jennings and Jelly appeared to be the only two somewhat on top of their games. Definitely a sluggish performance. Very puzzling after a bye week. Plus, the bounces & breaks certainly didn't go our way either.

he is a liability at QB now. I assume in the off season staff and him set in on him being more of a passer and committed to it. Will be glad wish a fresh start their next year, think the world of dobbs as a person/ role model but I am growing tired of his play.

I thought he was a Heisman candidate? And he's an NFL first rounder? And will be the next Russell Wilson?

Are you telling me D4H has been wrong this whole time?

When he realized that he wasn't having a good night passing Dobbs should have dropped back let everyone get spread out then tucked it and run. He did it earlier and no one could catch him.
