It's obvious Cam Newton is a great college player, and it looks as if he may be a top candidate for the Heisman this year. Will he be a great NFL player? What position do you think Cam Newton plays in the NFL?

im going with backup QB. depends on how well tebow does. if tebow makes an impact ehn more teams will be willing to try out newton. plus for newton is he can throw much better than tebow

I voted WR also, but why couldn't he be a RB? Is he too slow for a NFL RB? He's the leading rusher in the SEC this year, and you'd think he could succeed in the NFL at running if he can be a leading rusher within the SEC.

He won't.

He smiles like Magic Johnson so therefore he will play in the NBA.

Was that before or after his mental breakdown?

Actually, it was before and after - just not during. He was the best of the 3 during their rookie season, behind Cutler during the break down season, but has moved back to the top in the two seasons after the break down.

I do think the break down helped him. He seems to be a more mature person now than he was before the break down. I think he realized he couldn't make it on talent alone at the NFL level. He spends more time studying film than any other Titan now according to Titan insiders.

Voted WR... Likely a TE/wildcat QB.

I think ultimately this is what happens, but he'll get a shot at QB first. I don't think he's a great NFL QB, but when you have someone with his size/speed/athleticism combo, you have to find a place for him somewhere.

As of now it seems like Cam is a better prospect than Jamarcus and Tebow were at this point. He definitely has the edge over Tebow, because of the better delivery. However, I picture him as a wide out. Maybe running in some wildcat formations or playing as a slot receiver.

I don't think he's any better of a passer than Tim Tebow... And while he's got plenty of 2nd gear speed while running downhill, I don't think he has quite the type of quickness that will translate to the NFL, or the throwing ability to get him by.

Face it... The NFL is still a league built for elite pocket passers who have a quick first gear and can think extremely fast.

So far it seems like Newton's best plays go "read, read, truck this poor fool in front of me for 8 yards." He won't be able to do that in the League.

That's hardly saying much.

Young is a decent QB but that's about it.

He's in the top half of the NFL QBs which is saying quite a bit. There are 4 or 5 elite QBs, and then VY is in that next 2nd tier of NFL QBs. He will be a starter for a while in the NFL rather it's with the Titans or another team.

I agree with everything here other than he doesn't have that type of quickness. I've seen every Auburn game this year and he most certainly has enough quickness to do whatever is required of a mobile QB in the NFL.

We can only look to what he did last year in a pass-happy spread offense to get an idea of his passing ability due to the offense he is running.

I can tell you this, while his yardage passing would impress very few, he is effective when he throws the ball and has a good completion percentage.

He's a terrible passer, but so is Vince Young and he's working on his fifth season in the League. I'm sure Newton will get a shot at QB.
