What other message boards are saying (Oklahoma post game edition)

We were lost in the wilderness for 15 years and now we have lunatics who want to run off the guy who brought us back to relevancy at the first sign of adversity.

CJH imo has had a bad year with clock management and some critical in game decisions, but he deserves some grace. I like being nationally relevant again.
Absolutely. Welcome to VN! Played that game when I was little from my older brother's NES (Your profile pic).

-I feel sorry for Heupel. He deserves a better fan base. Those Vol message boards are full of fans who have forgotten what came before Heupel.

Well said!!
People were just venting post-game. It was like the De Boer memes after losing to FSU. All quiet now. Hype isn't going anywhere. He and Danny White are tight. I would like for Brazzel to have a good finish. He's an amazing WR and we are lucky to have him. Joey's probably blown his Heisman chance now, but with the Pavia ruling he could still come back next year too. Who knows? Would we want Joey back if the NCAA lets him come?

-Tennessee fans should be careful. They’re still a very good team and considering the offseason chaos, they’ve done pretty well. They should remember what the previous decade was like before heupel arrived. Josh needs to do better as well but pulling the trigger to fire him too quickly can backfire. This league is brutal and you’re going to be up and down from year to year. They’re still a very good football team. Unlike what’s happening at Auburn or Florida.

-That game was a war without a doubt. It's the SEC, it's what you're going to get. I attended Neyland for the first time. Hats off for the most insane atmosphere I have ever been a part of.

-We had the better kicker Saturday. If Tennessee doesn't have 3 turnovers, we might be on the losing end of this one.

-I feel better after we were able to go on the road and get the win. Alabama scares me though.

-The pre-game fanfare in that stadium looked insane. I thought they were about to start shooting off bottle rockets out of their tuba's. Navy Seals repelling out of a Chinook helicopter onto the 50, and a bunch of monkeys would start riding unicycles across the field while shooting cap guns. Dolly Parton was about to ride down the T on a jet-powered skateboard on afterburner. The Oak Ridge Boys hang gliding in with capes on. It was really about to happen. They just ran out of time when ABC told them we have to kick the game off now.

-I feel sorry for Heupel. He deserves a better fan base. Those Vol message boards are full of fans who have forgotten what came before Heupel.

-I can't think of another game where we played so sloppy, but were so opportunistic. Every major mistake that Tennessee made got converted to points.

-I also attended Neyland for the first time. Tennessee is one of the coolest places in the SEC. Vol fans showed me hospitality during tailgating. Good luck to them the rest of the year.

-That was the ugliest win we have ever had I believe. Tennessee was better than their ranking. The major difference was that we were able to capitalize on their mistakes. I have zero hate for Tennessee.

-FYI, the 27 by Tennessee’s offense is their second lowest point total this season. Alabama held them to 20. They dropped 30-40+ on everyone else & that includes Georgia.

-Tennessee was more talented….and found ways to lose this game.

-That had to be the strangest game I've seen in a long time.
We have seen this kind of game every year, that's the problem we are the better team and we loose.

Might have been? Would have been a blowout lol.

Or choose to completely ignore when we were a TOP team in the SEC and the NCAA? And act like this program has never been there before and should strive to get there again and not accept mediocrity for another 20 years?
Who's ignoring? Certainly not I as I can also remember the good old days of the 90's. However be real in your arguments. Fulmer's first 4 seasons 39-9 which is awesome. Heupel's first 4 37-15. Not as good but not bad either. But if you take a deeper look, 4 year record prior to Fulmer 38-9-2. 4 year record prior to Heupel, 20-27. I would also argue it is a much tougher league currently as well. Not hating on Fulmer at all. Also not sure Heupel will win championships but he ain't bad....

Let's not kid ourselves. If this site existed during the 90s, the same group of posters would've been making the same posts trashing the team incessantly.
In 1992, we lost three games in a row, including a home game vs unranked Arky and a road game at unranked South Carolina.
In 1993, we lost at Florida and were blown out by Penn St in the bowl game.
In 1994, we finished 8-4 with a loss @UCLA, got destroyed 31-0 at home by Florida, barely squeaked by a middling Washington State team, and lost at unranked Mississippi State to go along with our annual loss to Bama.
In 1995, we finally got over the Bama hump but got destroyed again @Florida.
In 1996, it was another home loss to Florida. This time, we were getting blown out at Halftime and came back to make it a game late in the 4th. Then, we absolutely crapped our pants at Memphis.
In 1997, it was another double digit road loss to Florida. We actually backdoored our way in the SECCG and barely got by an Auburn team that had no business pushing us to the brink. Then, with a slim outside chance at the natty, we got our doors blown off by Nebraska in the Orange Bowl.
Even in 1998, y'all would have been blasting this team for needing miracles to pull out wins over Syracuse and Arkansas and struggling on the road against unranked Auburn.
In 1999, we started the season ranked #2 while returning nearly all of our NC team. We proceeded to go 9-3 with another road loss to Florida, another road loss to an unranked Arkansas, a 1 point homecoming win over unranked Memphis and ended with another bowl loss to Nebraska.

That 1996 Florida game was a blowout. We scored two touchdowns in the last 3 minutes. We were down 35-0 at halftime. Heupel came into an extremely opposite situation as Fulmer. I loved Fulmer when he got the job. I remember sitting at a wedding rehearsal dinner table with a bunch of UT fans and grads in summer of 1995. They were roasting Fulmer. I just sat there and listened until someone said, "hey, aren't you from Winchester?" Then I proceeded with my usual rude arrogance and told them all they were ignorant fools😊

Yes, I remember it well. I came into that game thinking we finally had a chance to beat them, only to watch us get manhandled in the first half. I was holding on for some sort of miracle late in the fourth but knew there wasn't any chance.

Yeah, I remember getting up from my seat and walking over to the aisle to watch that onsides kick with 12 sec left in the game. I remember the crappy weather too

Tennessee is 2 missed FGs away from being a single loss team

Let that sink in
I like Heupel but I don’t get your statement. UGA yes. The 2nd one is a mystery. Are you saying if we make that first half FG against OU that we win? That’s a stretch for sure. If we score a TD instead of the fumble that led to OU scoring, then I’d agree we likely win that game.
