I decided to add the Pitt Postgame stuff, because from what I can tell, Akron has one message board and it's not super active.

Akron message board comes from zipsnation.org

I wish we were facing them with our starting QB, and the team we saw for the first 1.5 quarters (3/8th's) of the Michigan State game. But I'm not too confident that will be the case. Regardless - The wife and I will be in Knoxville to cheer on the Zips. I was there 33 years ago when they had Carl Pickins, Chuck Webb, and a host of other NFL-caliber players. It was a great time. I think we lost 52-9, but that was irrelevant. 😁

-I was at that game as well and yes, I believe the score was 52-9.

-UT has the Gators on deck (top 25 matchup), Zips +48.5 in a look-ahead spot? Anyone tune into Tennessee/Pitt this week, any review?

-I was at Pitt/UT. Tennessee is going to score a lot of points on us

-I was there in 2012, Bowden's first year, when we jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a pick six, took the lead 23-20 in the second quarter on 70 yard run by Quentin Hines, and were only down 30-26 into the 4th quarter. I felt like I was the only Zips fan in the entire stadium that day (went with some Vol fan friends) and boy was I making some noise. They pulled away at the end for a final that didn't reflect how close the game was, but man, 100,000 people dead silent listening to you go nuts is an incredible feeling.

-Can we at least score a touchdown this week

-Really not looking forward to this, especially since Irons is all but ruled out. I'm pretty much ready for MAC play since I feel we stand a chance in those games. MSU and now Tennessee is a lot to stomach in our rebuild...esp with our starting QB injured.

-Tennessee is better than Michigan State, but I think Akron will score.

-Day to day for Irons (their RB) is certainly encouraging. Just save him for Liberty if he's good to go or even just MAC play honestly.

-Joe Mo (their head coach) almost letting it slip (again) that most of our roster wasn't even FBS level prior to his arrival. Also, the media is in class every time they talk to Joe Mo. He is a football professor.

-Joe breaking the news to George (a reporter) that Tenn. beat Pitt 😂😂 The man is a joy to listen talk about football, that’s for sure. Listening between the lines it sounds like we’ll see Undercuffler on Saturday. Coach noted his jitters and nerves in that environment, hopefully he’s more ready to take the field in Knoxville and get a scoring drive or two on the board. The biggest issue in losing Irons on Saturday, coupled with the fumbles, is that the way the Zips were controlling the ball kept it from being a blowout. If they had gotten points on the board to start the game and kept moving the ball a bit, they wouldn’t have won, but it would have also been far closer than 52-0 at the end. The Zips looked like a Division 1 football team for a bit on Saturday. What an improvement! LOL

-I do not like this game at all. Due to what Tennessee did by dropping Army and adding us instead, IMHO a huge Black Eye for both Schools(Us for $$$ and them dropping a Military Academy). This game could get ugly fast, especially with Irons out. However with the decision of dropping Army and picking us up, could be used as serious chalkboard material.I don't see a win, but if what I said above happens, (referring to 2012 game) it could get really interesting.....

PITT postgame comes from panther-lair
-I was not impressed after all that bark from Tennessee. They might win the Sunbelt, I guess...

-I have the same thought this week as I did last week. I just watched two 6-6 or 7-5 teams play a fun game.

-Wasn't impressed with Hooker. He missed a couple wide open TD's but their talent elsewhere was impressive. When they tackled our guys went backwards. When we tackled, we got dragged for3-4 yards. They also seemed far more open on pass plays.

-Cope and seethe, it was a good competitive game no need to be salty.

-Their is a good chance Tenn ends up being Pitt's toughest opponent on it's schedule depending on what happens with Miami who didn't look very good today.

-Tenn looked like a solid team. Nothing special, but a bowl team for sure.

-Yeah, after the hype this week and how our offense was supposed to be @ss I was thinking it could be a tough game. In truth, with Slovis we win, with Pickett we win in a blow out, and with even remotely even officiating we win. But, give them credit. They have a well coached team. Hooker is a trooper, Tillman pushes off every play, but he had a great game for them. I didnt see depth from them. Defensively they looked worse than last year, but again, good game plan. They saw we were running 4 wr sets, and 5 OL and they consistently brought 6,7 guys and we didnt have quick routes to throw to. Our kicker sucked, and their kicker kicked what a 53 yarder?? That right there was the difference. They have a decent team, but anyone that could watch that game and think Tennessee was better than Pitt, or vice versa is fooling themselves. We are both decent teams, not great

-If Pitt had a field goal kicker, they win before overtime. With the second string QB in for the second half.

I don't see any comment that wasn't an honest assessment of both teams based on Sat's performance. Both teams made some good plays and were equally unimpressive.
I don't agree with the "Defensively they looked worse than last year" statement... we looked better... but not great. Was impressed by the hits in the backfield though...I bet they are still feeling it

I agree with you, just saying I thought all the comments were for most part just honest opinions and not just nasty cheap shots. Not sure why the guy would think our D was worse than last yr. They torched our D last yr and it won the game for us this yr.

Agree , we don’t win this game with last years Defense . This years D was the reason they didn’t have qb -1 and qb-2 was hobbling around .

Probably need to ask Slovis/Patti if UT were all bark. All in all it was a hard fought W for UT. To me once UT settled in there was really no worries that Pitt could produce enough offense to actually win the game. UT beats them easily without the questionable fumble and muffed punt. Unfortunately mental mistakes kept the game closer than it really should have been.

I thought the defense looked about the same. The pass rush got better starting in the second quarter, but Abanikanda had a 76-yard TD where he wasn't even touched until he was 15 yards downfield, they had guys running wide open down the field, and a good throw on the last play of the game might have gotten them a game-tying TD.

I don't know if it is a matter of talent level, depth, or coaching (probably all 3), but I think the defense still isn't very good.

I don't get downplaying a team you lost to. By calling us just a "bowl team" or a "Sunbelt team" they are saying they are less than that. I guess you can just make fun of ND and A&M to feel better about yourself.
After the events of the first 2 weeks, I don't really mind being told we might win the Sunbelt lol.

LOL... UT played WAY below potential on O... and still beat Pitt. Hooker at times was bad. As in not better than Milton a year ago bad. UT still won. And we aren't talking about forced errors. He flat out missed open WR's.

For all the pre-game chatter from the media, Pitt, and even some UT fans... UT was the more physical team. "With Slovis"... he continues to get abused and there is NO reason to believe that UT was going to miss more run fits that badly or blow another coverage against their TE. Abanikanda broke off a 76 yd run. Otherwise Pitt avg'd 1.7 ypc. Outside of that one long throw UT kept everything in front.

UT doesn't need to give up the big play. But if you want to understand why the D allowed UT to win... you look at what Pitt did otherwise. They had 3.4 yds/play outside of those two plays. UT throttled them and it wasn't just after Patti came in.

See my post just above. Outside of the two big plays, the D played VERY well against Pitt.

We are always shaky in the first part of the season, which is why it sucks to play the sewage swamp people so early. We play Pitt in October, when we really hit our stride, it is a FUGLY for them.
Now I wish UT had played someone better than Ball State. Maybe Georgia State or someone who pushed back a little. BSU's game plan seemed to be to get out of the game without getting anyone hurt... although BSU gave Western Michigan a game. They actually had a lead going into the 4th. Their QB is "MAC legit".

Ifs go both ways. We're down 10 0 then come back and go ahead 24 17 with there qb1 still playing. Turnovers kept Pitt in the game period!
