Dear Lord, hear the prayer of this sinner. I am thankful that Butch Jones has the job of Head Coach at Tennessee. I am grateful that he wanted the job, even knowing what he would inherit. I am grateful that he is the type of man who values good, strong working relationships. I am grateful that he knows his mission, and measures success by more than results on the field. I am grateful that he genuinely desires the well-being and success of all of the student athletes he coaches. I am grateful that he is mindful of the special connection with generations past and cultivates the Vols for Life. I am grateful that he has the perspective to view his time and job at Tennessee in the greater context of the University, its history, staff, students, alumni, and fans. And especially, Lord, in these times, I have hope for my alma mater and its football program. Amen, and pass the creamsicles. Please.

If we can pressure Eason, we win. If not, we win by a smaller margin.

See I even think your last sentence is faulty. Eason has absolutely nothing to do with our offense. Thats my point. Even if Eason has a big day throwing the ball, to this point they have not showed anythinh that tells me they can match us point for point.

This is where I am as well. I just don't see any indication from their defense that they can slow us down even a little. As long as the "stone hands" outbreak from the first half of the UF game is truly cured, we should be fine. They have athletic LBs, and I don't think their Dline is terrible. We have to pass some to keep the middle clean, but other than that, I think we can run and pass on them fairly easily. I don't see their defense as being any better than UF, and their secondary is definitely weaker. I think T. Daniel is going to get a week off.

I am slightly more worried about their offense. You know Eason is going to sling it, and they have excellent speed at WR. If we get good play from the CBs we will be fine, or it if we get decent pressure on the pass rush we will be fine. We have to have one of the two. I think even with Chubb they would abandon the run game fairly quickly against our D.

Our best bet for victory is to get up by a couple of scores early, and take the crowd out of it. We can then play a bend don't break defense that limits their outside speed. It's basically what we did against FL (even though we were playing from behind) and Barnett just decided to turn into a human cyborg and disrupt their entire passing game single handed. Whatever he was drinking at halftime I hope they have been feeding it to him all week. That is one bad man.

I don't see us losing this one, and honestly I think they could get blown out again.

Smart will pan out for them, but it will take at least three years, and more like eight. Their program really is a mess. I don't think Smart will be quite the same recruiter that CBJ has been. Not to mention UGAs obsession with 4/5 Star recruits. They seem to care more about collecting star ratings than actually filling the positions they are weak in. I think Smart will change that. Now we just have to find out if he can coach. Much like CBJ, I think his first couple of years will be a learning experience as much for him as his players.

word is that SEC defenses are messing with his freshman head. he hasn't played enough to understand the reads and his check-downs which does take a while to get the feel for. at least ole miss knew this.

Could be. But we've seen guys who just couldn't get it though they had elite physical talent. He's already done a few things that look that way.

Maybe just Fr growing pains.... but you are right. He is definitely seeing stuff you just don't see in Washington HSFB. I lived Washington state for awhile years ago. The athleticism of the competition he played was likely wanting.

I think Tennessee wins, but I expect the Dawgs to make it a fight. I expect it to take 4 quarters to put them away. They still have enough players to beat us if the Vols come out flat and/or unprepared. I know I've taken some criticism for thinking that but I would hate to see our season spoiled by Georgia- who some picked as the dark horse in the East this year. If our team is as mature as they me showed on Saturday then I expect a 41-21 W for the the good guys!

Ironic that they feel that way about their oline and Pitman. Lots of Vol fans don't see how we could make it without him.

If I'm not mistaken, most of our o-line wanted Pitman to stay, after the coaching change, and were upset with the change.

Kirby is Dooley 2.0

I hope you're right. Just because you worked for Saban doesn't make you Saban. Plus, they deserved it for firing Richt. He was a very good man as evidenced by the upperclassman being unaccustomed to the constant cussing. I'm pulling for MR at Miami.

And THANKS Chatt. My favorite thread each week.

If they lay down this week, it will probably mean the team has quit on ole Kirb. If so, UGA will probably start playing a bunch of freshman going forward.

First year is hard...many of the upperclassmen feel betrayed because they were loyal to Richt...Saban had some unhappy upperclassmen his first year....I agree, he will start playing all the new recruits and then probably sign a top 5 class in the spring.

Two things that are not that hard to remember, but so necessary to relearn.

1) Talented freshmen QBs that are going to rule the conference - uh huh

2) Gotta love those fan bases with winning coaches who think they aren't good enough, and despite watching so many other teams go through coaching hell, they make the plunge.

That has already started, they benched some upper classmen starters this week for our game.

Thanks Chatt. That key to winning was hilarious.

He is positive for his Team. The Dawgs, used to like him then realized he is a Dawg. I live in Georgia and have enough Dawg friends! GBO

Been trying to tell people this for awhile. Catbum is a dawg troll. Only a UGA fan would think they match up well with us going into this week's game. They fired a 10 win coach for Saban's clipboard holder, and now we are getting to see the results of that decision.

I'm not sure we should compare Dooley to Kirby yet. Simply because Dooley at least had a winning season and was able to land a once in a generation athlete. I truly think by the time Kirby leaves he could be worse than Dooley factoring in the position UGA was in when they hired him.

I'm not sure Kirby wins 7 this season with the close games he's had, and we can all agree the UGA team he inherited made the teams Kiffin, Dooley, and Buch got look like an average Texas High School team.
