In preparation for what could be one of the greatest weekends in TN basketball history, I decided to repeat a thread I did a few years back that everyone seemed to enjoy. So what is the answer? I'll start with a few things: Birthplace of rock n roll (Memphis) and country music (Bristol), and Music City USA (Nashville). That's a lot of musical tradition in one state.

Rocky Top....... the Vols
The Smokey Mountains
Nashville/Country Music (even if you don’t like it)
The weather....... if you don’t like it, just wait a few hours.
Great southern people
Great southern food
Nashville hot chicken
Did I mention the Great Smokey Mountains

Ah man ah man.

1. It’s where I was born.
2. Beautiful mountains
3. Rocky top man
4. Being a kid listening to John ward
5. Running out of the T
6. Beautiful cities like Chattanooga and gatlinburg/pigeon forge
7. Weekend trips to Nashville and seeing all the coolness of that city.
8. Cabins on pick wick lake
9. A weekend at Memphis with delicious food and a trip to gamble at tunica.
10. But most of all being a Volunteer.

I live in Alabama now and I love to take those trips back home.

Go vols!

History to include Civil War Battles, nickname "Volunteer" state, President and Vice President, and Oak Ridge is "the bomb".

I’ve honestly never heard pigeon forge or Gatlinburg called beautiful, and having lived in Chattanooga, it’s an overrated ****hole that literally smells like **** 9 months of the year. Nashville has lost its soul. Love the rest of state.

I’ve honestly never heard anyone describe Chattanooga that way. Was it your dirty laundry?

I think part of the reason it is so great is because there’s something for everybody. There is a lot of variance in geography, culture, food, people, etc. from west TN to middle TN to east TN

I travel for work (commercial construction superintendent) so I get around the country a lot. In most of the country people aren’t very courteous. A lot of times when I’m in a gas station. The clerk will say “is that all”. In Tennessee for the most part they say “can I get you anything else”. Also I’ve had several breakdowns in various states. For the most part people never stop to help. In Tennessee I always have a few people stop to check on me. So for me it’s the people that make it special. Every time I get back home it’s a little recharge on my southern hospitality. So thanks to all the Tennesseans for being you!
