The fact that we struck out this year on rbs and that Alabama is able to get 4 rbs in the top 100 while also having one of the nations top freshman rbs. Makes me want to vomit all over my keyboard.

So said great RBs should go play for losers because they don't want to be losers anymore?

Yeah, that's going to work.

The rich just get richer. I keep telling people we're cursed and they always just laugh. But seriously...

We're not cursed we just had a terrible AD who made a couple terrible hires. When I was in HS and then at UT in the late 90's/ early '00's UT beat Bama 7 straight years. It goes in cycles for every great program.

You would think with the OL basically intact and experienced, we could land one top rb. SMH.

Competition makes you better. Bama is killing it right now. Based on their run, why would you think they would be stockpiling talent everywhere?

When does saban retire it may be 20 before we bet them

In looking at the RB stables in the SEC I'm beginning to suspect that part of the reason we may be having difficulty landing elite backs is because no one wants the job SOLO. I mean they are generally teaming up in droves at other schools so they can share the work load whereas if they come to TN they know they're likely to be THE everydown back until they get injured. Playing tired gets you injured quicker than you might think and there is no amount of conditioning that is going to make you immune to an SEC STOP-THE-RUN defense. Just a thought.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but those bad hires on our side may have been the same problem on their side for those 7 straight years? They fixed their problem a few years ago. We're hoping we've now fixed ours?

I would guess two of those rbs won't see the field 'til their jr. year.

You must be kidding...we don't need no running backs...we got so many running backs that we can't play them all...there's Neal, Lane, Young, Summerhill, Smith, Hill, AJ Johnson, King, Howard, Lee..if we need him add Maybin...and since we will be a passing offense our running backs won't be needed too much...

Unfortunately, I think these kids get blinded by the glamour of being Alabama’s RB.

Its just boggles my mind how these kids would rather ride the pine at Alabama or being Saban’d out then start at a number of major universities.

Arkansas is a great example. One of Alabama's RB recruits is from north Little Rock and with Bielema coming in looking to establish a running game, you know he would see the field early and often. Razorback fans were dying for this kid to come to Fayetteville. Yet still, he went to Alabama with a hope and a prayer.

King is now a TE and I think he will shine!

It helps to have have back to back to back RBs go in the first round and be heisman candidates...

As long as Saban is their coach, this down cycle for us will continue. He could probably beat us using our players against our coach using the Bama players.

If you are a cellar dweller like we've been recently I think you've got to get that "star" recruit. When teams like Ole' Miss and a terrible Auburn squad pick up a great player or two then other players rationalize... "Heck, if their good enough for him then why not?" We need that 5-star player early on.

When we win 3 NC's in 4 years, we can do that too. Until then, we have to live with this sh@t. I hate it as much as anyone, but it is what it is.

That's right. And if Butch doesn't get it done over the next few years we'll have to continue the search for the next great UT coach.
