What Kind Of Fan Are You

I'm the type fan who wants UT to win every game, even though I know that's not realistic. I go into each week thinking we'll win. I support the coach and players whoever they are. I supported Battles, then Majors, now Fulmer to the end. It's not my job to decide who the coaches are, so I support who we have. If we change, I'll support who we get. I love the orange, GO VOLS!

I was at both of those games....and if you are loyal to your coach and his staff and dont want a coaching change.......doesn't make you stupid or old school.........

what it does make you is a lemming who obviously has no problem with mediocrity, not beating ranked teams, etc....do you call vol calls every week?

I'm one of the thousands of UT fans who is not a UT alumn. I used to post on this board quite a bit but just occasionally chime in now. I'm still an avid reader of the VolNation message boards but just don't think I can contribute much right now. I'm like an outsider looking in and I'll keep my opinion on the Fulmer question to myself since I really don't have a dog in this race. However I will respond to this thread.
I have been for a long time, and will continue to be, a rabid Tennessee fan although I am not from Tennessee and have never lived there.
I have the power T on the back window of my cars and they stay there year around
I have a Vols mailbox cover and it stays on year round.
I have a Tennessee flag which flies on my proch from August thru March.
I have a large collection of Vols t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and hats which I wear whenever I can.
I have a closet full of orange golf shirts, white khaki pants, and orange dress shirts which get worn often.
My wife's cell phone ring is the Pride of the Southland
playing Rocky Top.
Our intro music at the Karioke bar is "Rocky Top" played by the POtS.
We celebrate each Vols win and are depressed with each loss. We exhibit unbearable smugness with each win and humbly suffer the abuse when we lose.
Why are we UT fans? Because we love the Tennessee experience: Rocky Top, Down the Field, memories of John Ward, the bluetick hound mascot, the Vol Walk, The band's entrance into Neyland, the pregame show, running through the "T", the roar of the crowd in the stadium, the great fans, just the warm feeling of belonging to something special.
Considering the events of the last three years, am I happpy with things the way they are? No. Will I continue to watch the games on TV? Absolutely! Will I continue to come to Neyland? Every chance I get!
Will I continue to spend money on Vols memorabelia? All I can spare, depending on availability.
As for coaching questions, that's not my business to make off the cuff comments. I may not be posting but I'mm reading everything posted on here.
Go Vols, I with ya' til the wheels come off! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

maybe my focus is a bit narrow, but all of the hoopla surrounding the game and all the tradition mean very little to me (not an alum, but have played a part in a lot of the traditional stuff). I'm all about the teams that we put on the field and how they play relative those the other guys put on the field.

for the record, I proudly wore my orange on Sunday. That being said I want Phil Fulmer gone as soon as possible. also, I don't think the authorities would let me take my license tag off no matter what.

I live in NC and they don't offer a UT tag to my knowledge. So I have a Panthers tag and the wife has a Hurricanes tag. Other than that, rolling UT billboards.

I don't have a problem with your position at all. I guess that's just the difference in our individual values. It doesn't make me any bigger or better better fan than you. Personally speaking, I just get such a kick out of the hoopla. Attending a Tennessee game is such a special event for us since we're old and don't get to go to that many. Without all the fanfare associated with the game, 2 1/2 hours of just football without all the trimmings would be a letdown for us. Of course, I want desperately to see UT return to national football power status but I just can't turn my back on them. I'll just keep hoping.

I live in the heart of Bama Land, but we proudly fly our UT flag year round, have a UT mail box that has been hit and replaced several times, and flags stay on the cars all through football season no matter what.

I try to make it to Neyland as much as I can and I don't understand leaving early either. I can't even change the channel when watching on TV
