What is the real issue with JG?

Is it him starting the game or the coach keeping him in when he goes off the rails? I can see starting him but when he is not performing well, why are we keeping him in the game? If he is not getting it done, you have to pull him. No question about that.
If CJP didn’t bench him over that cluster****k goal-line play vs Bammer last year, you know he won’t bench him for some measly pick 6’s.....right?

Except... He DID bench him.

perhaps LO1 meant benched as in forever banished from taking the field as a UT player? Probably that alone was one of the most bonehead offensive plays I've seen or heard by a UT Vol player on offense. I've been around listening to UT football since Dewey Warren was the Swamp Rat for reference.

Real issues is he sucks. Is there really anything else to say about it. Just look at his starting record and it will be tell you all you need to know about him as a starter.

Butch Jones paid him to tank games for us. 🤔

In my opinion, he just does not have the skill set to play at the SEC level and should have changed schools when the Butch Jones pea shooter offense left town, he is not a pro style quarterback, he lost me the day he committed to Tennessee, on the big advertising screens in Times Square, most kids that come out of the soft private school leagues in New Jersey don't stoop to such self absorbing grandiosity before they do something productive at the major conference level. He may derail Pruitt's head coaching career path, plenty of pressure coming out of an off week

He plays like he's on Xanax most of the time. He never mentally developed past his freshman year. It sucks because he has all the physical tools to be special. He's in his fifth year now and why Pruitt is still holding out hope is beyond me. Makes zero sense

JG's problem is his crippling fear of failure. Hinders quick decisions, makes him stare down receivers to make sure that he doesn't make a mistake. Can't psychologically bounce back from a mistake which often results in a compounding of mistakes. He should spend half of every practice with a sports psychologist.

I was thinking the other night about the game where we played ga.tech and j.g looked upset because Dormandy was starting. Dormandy would come off the field after a drive and j.g would just sit there on bench wouldnt get involved with the other qb's on the sideline even the announcers even brought it up..

It’s simple really, I think we overcomplicate it.

JG can’t throw guys open, he doesn’t anticipate the route well. Think back to the 2018 when we played Mizzou at home. JG was getting murdered waiting for routes to develop to find an open man. We all blamed the terrible O-line play, then the O-line suddenly played miraculously better when Chryst came in. The truth is, nothing changed, Chryst just took the snap and threw to the route without wasting time.

I remember specifically on Chryst’s first drive he took the snap and immediately floated one over the DB to Jennings. He threw it too long and Jennings missed it, but he ran the exact same play the next snap, took the ball and floated it to the route Jennings was running before pressure ever had time to get to him, and got a huge gain. That’s what JG can’t seem to do, especially on short routes.

Fast forward this to the 34:45 mark and you’ll see the two plays I’m talking about.

I’m sure JG is a good kid but I’ve never been so ready for someone to GTFO of the program. He’s tough when he gets the he’ll knocked out of him, that’s about all the praise I can give to him. There has been worse QBs to play here but they didn’t start all the games he has.
