Is the next level 2 SEC championships in 15 years? I know we have won or shared 7 SEC East division titles, but is that the next level? I think Fulmer has done about all he can do. I'm not saying fire him, but maybe we Vol fans expect to much. I am 37 and I've seen 5 SEC championships in my lifetime. 1 conference title every 7 years? Is this the best that we can expect from the University of Tennessee? I realize that there are a lot of programs that would love that, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, Miss. State, etc..., but we are Tennessee. I'm starting to think that we just expect too much. I need to learn just to watch the games and leave it there. No more radio talk shows or listening to the hype. Oh, one more thing. Good riddance to Hefney and Ainge. Hefney has been the worst I've ever seen and Ainge is a little below average at best. Am I too pessimistic or is this where we are? Have we been taken to the highest level that we can attain at UT?

Very good post. I feel the same way you do. It hurts cause we expect so much and it all comes crashing down on us. Oh well like they say there is always next year.

You have good points but its been discussed. It's a combination of mike hamilton being a suck azz to phil and giving unwarranted raises and extensions for the mediocrity, that we have grown to expect over the last eight nine years i've lost count.

there is a clear talent gap right now. the '98 team had some stud d-linemen. Mayo is great, but he needs help at lb. Thank goodness for Berry or we wouldn't have a shot at winning 10 games this year.

I believe we have dropped out of the top 15 level and we are now hovering between 20 and 30 on a national level as far as ranking. We are no longer the power that we use to be. Mediocre at best.

What is the next level (for UT)?

To outright become the second best team in the SECE. And NOT by a backdoor method.

My friends, that will be a major accomplishment with our current Coaching Staff! I won't even mention the SECW, LSU, Auburn & Alabama.

Its all about the AD, the AD Department and the University not being in Control of the UT Football Program....

It is all Show and NO GO...
Smoking Mirrors...

Which Boils down to three Things.

Money/Contributions

Keeping the Boosters Happy to Give More

The Blank Check CFP has been Given....

When people get tired of being ranked between 13 and beyond at the end of the season we will see changes....Right now we are living on barrowed time but this staff can easily accomplish that for the next 15 years....

I still feel that the Vols are just a piece or two from being a top 10 program. From the games I saw the talent is mostly there along with the depth. Maybe Fulmer will have the cajones to make some staff changes plus really put an extra effort into recruiting during the offseason.

A top 5 program is where we have falling from....Which Pieces....Fulmer and Bush are the same type Politicians...Stay the Course....Win the Eastern Division and Mission Accomplished...We have became a Talent Dependant Football Team because we cannot depend of the Coaching Staff to develop the talent....Sound Familiar....

IT SOUNDS SOOOOOO FAMILIAR! Surely, surely Fulmer will encourage Coach Cut to explore an open Coaching position. With that said, I do not believe Fulmer has the cajones to select someone that might suggest getting away from the 30 year old inbred philosophical offensive scheme he subscribes to.

Certainly, he will NEVER hire anyone that might outshine himself. Think about it name more than 3 Coaches that have worked under CPF that have been highly successful since leaving Master CPF's Coaching umbrella. No Cutcliff does not count, obviously he failed at Ole Miss.

Sounds all too familiar for us at ASU. Weve had decent talent over the last several years but Steve R. has a love affair with his assistants who have been with him since 1-AA days. :banghead2: So believe me we stAte fans can relate all to well to that problem.
