The Tallahassee Democrat just released an article about how much FSU football spends on recruiting, and I was wondering what does UT spend?

The article said CBB spent just 280K in his last year on recruiting, and that CJF immediately doubled the recruiting budget to over 500K in his first season as part of the overhaul of the program. I would think Tennessee spends a lot more considering you have to go out of state for more prospects than we do in Florida.

Over a million.

Fsu can walk from campus for most of their recruits, we have to fly in and out of an expensive airport and reach a pretty broad area, though the increasing highschool talent in Tennessee is helping.

Also, we are more boss

I know we spent the most in the SEC, but I can't remember how much.

Its almost not fair competing against LSU. The talent/budget the get/pay is ridiculous.

It's funny to see Texas so high on the list.. Don't have to go to far... I guess that money goes to a lot of steak dinners.

While I agree we have a TON of instate talent.
It is 500 miles from Tallahassee to Miami.
Atlanta is half the distance from Tallahassee as Miami, at 274 miles. To paint the picture like all the Florida recruits are close to FSU isn't accurate. For a comparison that might mean more to you, it is the same distance from Tallahassee to Miami as Johnson City to Memphis. Not exactly a walk from campus.

You just said "we" in reference to Fla St. You've been exposed.

wow. 1.88 mil for all men's UT sports. I'd guess Football easily accounts for a mil of that, leaving ~900k for all other sports. That is insane money. It pays to be the only football school in the state and have a huge ass stadium to keep the $ rolling in. Actually, it's probably more relevant to Tennessee's money pile that Nashville, Atlanta, and Chatt are all within 4 hours so alumni can easily make the trip for multiple games.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, because I don't think you meant that as an insult, but whatever we have here at UT we have earned over the years through some hard-a$$ work. Other schools have had the good fortune of having players fall into their laps from birth; everything we do, we have to do twice as hard as just about any other traditional football power.

Oh, I absolutely did not mean it as any sort of insult. I think Neyland is amazing and a great resource for the Football program. I didn't mean to imply that it was somehow luck that Tennessee has developed its facilities. I can see how my comment may have read that way. FSU would love to expand Doak Campbell to Neyland's size, but the money just isn't there yet.

Yeah, man, I know you didn't mean anything by it. Even so, thanks for clarifying.

Our recruiting budget increased when Chaney got here because of the amount of quarter pounders he eats on recruting trips.
