Is this coaching search taking this long because Fulmer doesn't want to trust anyone and hand over the keys on offense or is Fulmer just playing us like a fiddle so he can have the last laugh and he will hit a homerun with the hire?? I really think Fulmer is having a hard time getting someone because he doesn't want to give up some control. This whole situation makes me look at Fulmer in a different way because out of all the connections he has it's just amazing to think he doesn't have an OC by now.

It's hard to say. I would love for Fulmer to suprise me with a homerun hit.

I'm rooting for Fulmer, but man, the cynic in me won't let me get my expectations up too high. The fact that he's known to have interviewed the likes of Spence and Cignetti make me feel like this is just gonna be a ho-hum hire.

the reason its taking a while is because Fulmer cares about this program with all of his heart and is looking for a guy that not only runs an offense that would get fans excited but a guy that all of us in the Big Orange community can trust will be here to stay when he is having success and not someone who will bolt as soon as a Michigan, Florida, USC, etc.. job opens up... for example Cig would be a great pickup with his exciting style of offense but i am 99.9 % sure that he would leave Cal for a HC job at WVU in 2009 if he were offered it, and that is not what Phil wants for us, he wants longevity

I'm starting to think that one of the interview questions is..Will you kiss my butt and do what I tell you,no matter what?

Phil is coming to the end of his coaching career and I believe he is wanting to hire someone who would or could be considered for taking over the program when he leaves. It is still just puzzling that he didn't have a plan in place if Cut got offered a HC position somewhere. Some things you can't plan for but he knew Cut would leave and frankly so did over 50% of the VolNation if he was offered a HC job somewhere.

Then why did he bring Cut back if Cutcliffe openly stated that he was wanting to be a head coach again?

I don't want Fulmer making any decision on who the next head coach is. That sounds like he wants control even when he's gone.

Hubbs is saying the OC search hasn't gone as Fulmer planned.

Beats me if I know. I've heard every scenario that has and hasn't happened, coaches who were locks, and coaches who've been offered twice, but haven't really been offered at all.

He was just a band-aid to buy Fulmer time. Bring back his buddy, some discipline, and stick to more "playing not to lose" football.

Anyone think he wants to get the best guy for the fans. He's lost some over the last few years and before he goes does he want to get the guy that makes the fans say "Way to go Phil..."

Just a thought.
